Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

It means no matter what is said, you're going to keep looping around to something that was discussed, like it was never discussed before.

So, you do you, because it's not worth talking about anymore.

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

You said that these movies DC was making would not be recovered from. That's what YOU said. And El Squibbonator just demonstrated those movies were successful. I gave you examples of movies that would have destroyed an IP, and those are now some of the most marketable and successful film IPs on the ...

Remember Daredevil? And Elektra? All the Fantastic Four movies? ...including the one that was never released in theaters? Yes, even that one. Because I remember. I remember them all. Even the FIRST Captain America movie...and no, it was not the one with Chris Evans. Each of those movies was consider...

...They DO want a positive Superman, though! That was one of the number one criticisms of the direction that Zach Snyder took Superman: they made the character an Objectivist-style hero, and it didn't fit with who he was. As for being justified in deciding immediately he's a threat, you're talking a...

Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

Going through each of those versions, it's really hard to add anything to something so thorough, but: Burton's Batman is almost gleeful in how he kills people. Like, he kills a SHIT ton of people in the first movie (you know there was a lot of Joker minions in that Axis chemicals plant), and in the ...

he worst part is that my biological prime is behind me, my body will now steadily lose its functionality over the course of many decades. Good God, one foot in the grave already! ^ You've taken this argument very personally, Ray: you've inserted some personal attacks in there that I fail to see have any bearing on the discussion. That being said... ...Batman, as he exists now, is character that exists because of failures in the system. The system has failed, so someone steps...

The property of Godzilla runs the gamut so widely, from dead-serious and almost horror to straight up batshit insane, it would be IMPOSSIBLE to fail at somehow merging Godzilla with any other property. There's, like...a Gojira for everything from drama to comedy.

Re: From Your Lips to the Author's Ears: Story Ideas

ABB: If all it took for a story to gain universal appeal was being well-written, than there are a lot of great writers today and throughout history that would like to have a word with you. By that same token, we live in a day and age where 50 Shades of Gray gets movie deals. It's a lottery. It's a l...

Re: From Your Lips to the Author's Ears: Story Ideas

It's a lottery: just because you can put all the effort possible into carefully crafting a story using the most bizarre or inane premise possible, doesn't mean it's going to be good. Or, if it's fucking amazing, it doesn't mean anyone is going to like it! You might be the only person who sees the br...

A dorm, or a barracks: I mean, if they have to work for a paramilitary organization piloting robots, I can't see them necessarily living on their own (at least until an op-tempo has been established).

I think 'dorm mom' Misato would be precious in the best way.

Re: From Your Lips to the Author's Ears: Story Ideas

You aren't obligated to write the story. And yet, you felt obligated to make a reply, and then mock everyone for not being able to follow up on that. And it's doubtful anyone would, because in context of the two stories you chose...it would probably be a shit story. That's how odds work: you might w...

It's easy to get caught in that 'heat of the moment' demand to throw something out there. I've done it, too. Emotions are really a devil for us in that respect.

Re: Internet toxicity (Social media, fandom shipping, etc)

Bear in mind, a lot of that is being deliberately stoked. It's tough to grind down through the 'Russia meddling' issue without it becoming political, but the fact of the matter is...it's there. Those bots and false accounts sit on both ends of the spectrum, and it's not uncommon to find Russian bots...
