Yes, do tell. Maybe we finally found something positive for the existence the dub! :D Well, excuuuuuse me. I liked the dub, as many of my posts have probably made clear by now. As I recall (and mayhap I don't recall so well), she said that she'd kind of gotten sick of Asuka both bec...

I'm sorta-kinda part of the Adult Swim generation; I was aware of and curious about the series before it aired on AS, but it took seeing a few minutes of an episode on there to finally push me into buying the DVDs and watching the series from start to finish. I gobbled it up, didn't quite ge...

In fairness, though, when I watched it in Japanese (which was my first time seeing the DC of ep22 at all, I should note) I didn't even notice that the voices were switched with each repetition. So, that hardly "blows it"; it was already rather repetitive to begin with, and the...

Leafed through this at a bookstore today. I found the segment at the end interesting. I was particularly surprised and intrigued to read Miyamura's bit about how she had kind of come to resent Asuka until she met Grant. That was definitely unexpected. As for the manga itself... well. It is inter...

Princess Jellyfish (a.k.a. Kuragehime), Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, and Cowboy Bebop. Also rewatching Gunslinger Girl, an all-too-frequently overlooked classic.

Wow, I think that's as long as I've ever heard him speak without getting really silly. Must be due to the sickness he mentioned. It's a shame he doesn't get more roles in American cartoons; given his love for improvisational goofiness and crazy, energetic voices I would think that wo...

Total media blackout time. I will be forsaking this forum and all other Internet discussion of Rebuild until I can sit down, in a theater (or at least at a con), and see it. I got spoiled on 2.0 very early on, and by the time I finally had a chance to see the movie on a big screen (the w...

The "all Hollywood adaptations of anime so far have been bad, therefore this one will be bad" argument is pretty damn poor. That's like saying that no one should have ever attempted another comic book adaptation after Batman Forever . The quality of a movie depends almost entirely on w...

I think I'll assess voice actors' performances as I feel they are deserving. I don't have anything personal against any voice actor, I just look at their work. If any of them has a problem with that, well, it's a shame they don't respect my opinion. I think I give them a far fair...

I'm fine with the F-bombs, I'm just sorry there isn't any German cursing. I always appreciated Grant's contributions there. Likewise. I always felt they added a bit of color to the character. I asked McFarland about this, and his response was basically "we're trying to be a...

A comparison video, for those curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDVaVRQoQhQ

I've only seen a little bit of Eureka Seven, but from what I understand the "ripoffs" in question are more homage than plagiarism.

I'd say she's still plenty shrill. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing.

I'm personally of the opinion that dubbing SHOULD be localizing, just not in the retarded way that 4Kids does it. (For that matter, does 4Kids even have any major properties anymore? They do, like, what, Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon ? I find it kind of silly that they're still used as a pariah o...

Cartoon Network doesn't really have a foot in Japan, but Powerpuff Girls was tremendously popular on Japanese cable. Actually, I recall reading that Cartoon Network has a Japanese spinoff network: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cartoon_Network_Japan Anyway, this is awesome. I wonder if the next P...

Dunno if this has been posted before, but it's one of the most beautiful Evangelion AMVs I've ever seen and it seems astonishingly under-appreciated as such. Have a look-see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5njgo04R5A8

I saw 1.0 in theaters back in '09, and even did a writeup on it. 2.0 I saw at a convention last month, and haven't written about just yet. Both experiences were tons of fun, though, and I know for certain I'll be doing it again come 3.0.
