From experience, i've noticed about half the bots that post on the internets come from G-Mail addresses. You could always just ban that and ask users who wish to join to use hotmail. I know it seems annoying for new users but it will definitely stem the tide of bots.

This is killing me.....I need to go live in Japan NOW!
