Re: What are you watching right now? (tv series + see OP!)
It’s the best thing HBO has put out in a long time.

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!
As long as they go out on a high note, that’s fine. This feels like a trilogy anyway.

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!
The sheer artlessness of the environmental message is itself an artistic choice. This isn’t a movie for subtlety.

Re: Ghidora
SPOILER: Show
They threw in imagery comparing Ghidora to William Blake’s Great Red Dragon paintings, and you know what? They actually earned it. They made him awesome and terrible.

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!
Yeah. It’s not self-deprecating but they’ve abandoned all pretense of these being Serious Movies. It’s a movie that knows what it is, embraces it, and goes full ham on it. Full review in spoilers. Pros: The monster fights are fantastic. The movie doesn’t shy away from showing them. They’re the stars...

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!
I just got out. I’ll share deeper thoughts later. I’m about to drive home.
This was my top movie of the year. I know the critics have a lot of complaints. I’m sure most of them are accurate descriptions of the movie.
I don’t fucking care. Long live the King.

Chaddy, how bad is the gore? I’m curious but if it’s just wall to wall grue I think I’ll skip.

Re: Tim Miller's Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)
One of the things all the post T-2 movies lack is a claustrophobic horror vibe. This one doesn’t look to have it either.

Re: Godzilla & Kaiju General!
I’m seeing it at an IMAX showing tonight. I haven’t read the reviews but if they’re all complaining that it’s too monster smashy, it won’t have any bearing on box office. Crisis just like to think they can dictate how much money movies make. If the user score is that low as well, that’s bad. Godzill...

Re: Star Trek
I’ve read that the sexism continues right up through DS9.
Then of curse with Voyager they had no idea how to write a female captainZ
(Tip: you write a female captain exactly like a male captain. A woman does not consult her ovaries before she launches photon torpedoes)

Re: Star Trek
She absolutely didn’t. She was mistreated by the producers and Roddenberry, and her ideas for the character were dismissed. Really, she should be the one headlining a revival show. She’s a brilliant actress that rarely had an opportunity to display her full range and talent and the scripts were usua...

Re: [TV] A Game of Thrones
Season 1 was the most cohesive, in my opinion. I cobbled together a rant about the ending. Okay everyone is doing this so I won’t write a whole thing. This is just how I think every character arc should have ended on #GameofThrones 1. Arya: Kill Cersei while wearing Jaime’s face and die when Dany at...

Re: Star Trek
That is a profoundly weird teaser.
What were they referencing with the caravan thing? One of the movies?
Stewart looks... tired. This isn’t encouraging.

Re: [TV] A Game of Thrones
@Reichu, a redditor from a few years ago put it like this: It started as a show that doesn’t cheat to help the good guys and became a show that cheats to help the bad guys. I’d add to that by saying it came around to cheating to help the good guys in a particularly egregious way. So, really, they ju...

https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/observations/the-real-reason-fans-hate-the-last-season-of-game-of-thrones/ This outlines the main reasons why the last two seasons have been so god awful. Well, one of them anyway. At its best, GOT was a beast as rare as a friendly dragon in King’s Landing: it wa...
