Ath and SailorStarDust have already answered this question, but just to throw in an anecdote, I was in Japan back in 2001 when most things were still on VHS, and only found the DC episodes for sale/rental. I was renting and watching them for a bit of Japanese practice (knowing the dub off by hea...

Well, when Ritsuko examines Shamshel's remains in Ep. 05, she says that the "specimen is intact except for the core", and then a few moments later, she refers to indecipherable data she managed to gather about the Angel's power source from scanning Shamy's body. This would sug...

It creates a link back to the quoted post. I don't know of any way to do it with multiple posts, unless you're a really good guesser. Whoops, forgot to say thanks Azathoth for clearing that up. ^_^ (Never noticed that little arrowy thing before.) Soooo... nobody wants to comment on ...

Why would circumcision make him require lubricant? Instrumentality in general? Watching everybody die is not fun. Some posts should not be read in consecutive order. :uhh: On topic... oh, hell, is it even possible to choose a most disturbing moment? They turn up in EoE about every five seconds or s...

Okay, I nearly went mad last night trying to keep all the quotes straight and stayed up too late and possibly broke my brain. So I'll stick to just one issue this time: the 'coming of age' thing. TheAbhorrent points out (as JesuOtaku does) the way NGE subverts the coming of age s...

A reply! From Yojimbo! In which he agrees with some stuff I said! *newbie swoon* PS, Jimbo, this might sound a bit weird, but thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it. I'm kinda used to being ignored on forums since I'm usually in the wrong time zone and so can't get into a p...

Or sprinting to catch Sahaquiel. Though I wouldn't want to be responsible for what happens if you hit peak synch ratio with the treadmill.

Having lurked around here for a long time, I think I can safely say that when Jimbo is impressed by an analysis of NGE's flaws, everyone should be. And it seems I'm in danger of outdoing his reputation with another wall of text. I did try to keep it short... honest guv! Jimbo, you...

Such as ones that lived post-Second Impact, or people who were alive during her human lifespan, or something like that. Possibly the time period covere...

It's really hard to yell "Don't leave me alone!" and "Please care about me!" at the top of your lungs without sounding somewhat whiny. I tried and failed. And it's downright impossible to yell "I feel awkward! And UNEASY!" without turning a riveting portray...

Zenith, there's a quote button when you go to quote, right? Hit that, copypaste what you want quoted inside the brackets, and edit the first bracket to say (quote="AuraTwilight") or whoever you wanna quote. OK, thanks, just tried it and it seems to be working. (I was scare...

Minor newbie thread necromancy going on here - just want to throw in my (somewhat more than) two cents... Having just read this whole thread, it feels as though dubbies and subbies are shouting at each other from different continents, with a few bridging the divide and wondering what all the...

NERV still has enough knowledge of how it all works that they can make Unit 02 grow a literal new head. Hang on, when did they do that? I can only remember the time they reattached 02's head after Zeruel sliced it off. Also, NERV receives a lot of 'spare parts' from discontinued Evas la...

in that case armisael is a giant S2 engine...lol You know, this does kinda make sense... Armisael when we first see it is a big glowing helical ring. So if helical = super-solenoid and glowing = limitless energy, then... :chinscratch: Okay, maybe it's a little farfetched. But wouldn't that ...

This might be a bit long, but I'm new and in nostalgia mode right now ;) In Australia NGE aired on free-to-air TV at the end of the 90s. Dubbed OA of course. I think my very first glimpse was while channel-surfing, of Samshel getting a faceful of taxpayers' money. I had some vague awaren...

Hmm, so the roar might actually have been left out in the remix, then? That's a shame. I have noticed one or two other changes in the dub between VHS and Platinum - like the new 'random scary sound effect' on the closeup of Eva-01's face when it lands after bursting out of Leliel. An...

The missing roar (NGE dub)

G'day all, Got a little question about the EoTV dub that's been bothering me for a while... In Episode 02, during the fight between Eva-01 and Sachiel, there's that famous moment when Fuyutsuki says 'We've done it' (or 'We've won' in the sub) and UltraPeeP...

G'day everyone! Been a lurker for over a year now. I'm an old-school NGE fan - saw the show on Aussie TV back in 1999 and rewatched my fuzzy VHS recordings til every line of the dub was burned into my brain (hence the sig). Rebuild 1.0 sparked my interest again. It's been fun fin...
