Re: LCL Breathing. (And Fetuses)

IIRC, LCL in its electrolysed form is essentially "liquid air" in some ways. It has the same density of air but the physical properties of aliquid. How this works I don't know, but it's interesting. What's more interesting (IMO) is the long-term health effects of having ones lungs constant...

Re: Shinji a Misogynist?

Hey, you're worried about whether or not the protag is a misogynist, so who are you to criticize? Worried? No. Baffled as to who the fuck has the time, effort and inclination to seriously draw up a theory as to why a fictional character is a "misogynist" (despite the overwhelming evidence...

Re: Shinji a Misogynist?

The show's overarching story concerns a shadow world government comprised of 12 people manipulating events and staging the death of half the population in order to fund the development of superweapons designed ultimately to murder all of mankind, and you're worried about how a teenager in it took so...

Re: Shinji a Misogynist?

It's not "slightly tasteless activity," it's a criminal act that would get him jail time in the real world. Doesn't make him a misogynist, but it's hardly "no big deal". I think you are taking a one-off gag from the silliest part of an already silly arc just a little bit too ser...

Re: Shinji a Misogynist?

Agreed on basically all counts, except Kensuke. I mean sure, the picture-taking was pretty skeevy but at the end of the day, he IS still 14. Everyone does shitty things when they're 14, and one slightly tasteless activity during adolescence shouldn't damn one forever (especially not when the whole s...

Re: Shinji a Misogynist?

...No? Why the fuck would he be? Outside of the "Combat is a man's job!" line (which was equal parts comedy and foreshadowing) he's about as far from "misogynist" as humanly possible, if anything seeming the exact opposite. He's fairly domestically inclined &#...

Re: Top films of 2016?

The Hunt for the Wilder People, The Hateful Eight, The Revenant, Hail Caesar, and that's about it in terms of actually good films I saw that came out this year. Granted most of the films I watched were older ones, and the good ones I did see were REALLY good...but considering this was the year that ...

Over Christmas I watched Mary Poppins. Surprisingly good movie, especially for its age. Julie Andrews was absolutely wonderful, and Dick Van Dyke's "Cockney" was hilarious.

Re: The Elder Scrolls Saga Thread

Having gotten Mod Organizer working well (I highly recommend it; it's tricky to learn how to use but it is SO much more powerful than NMM) I've resumed my silly adventures in Skyrim, wreaking havoc on unsuspecting wolves and physics-fudging my way up mountains with my courageous (if diminutive) Bret...

Finished Bubblegum Crisis. Really good fun but damn do I wish it had been properly finished- the last episode, whilst a great watch, just wasn't satisfactory as an ending.

Re: Ghostbusters Reboot

It's 30 years after the fact, dude. Keeping the same cast would be asinine (also, at least some of the cast wanted nothing to do with a sequel, so there's that as well). Which should be telling, but there you go. Genderflipping a cast isn't in and of itself shitty, no matter which way it goes. And ...

Re: Ghostbusters Reboot

Myself, I think the movie was really just horrendously marketed and poorly conceived. Aside from the grossly misaimed attempts at pandering to "everything should be changed for change's sake" idiots whilst at the same time selling itself on being a successor to a well-liked franchise whose...

Watched more Bubblegum Crisis, the last ep I watched being 5. This show keeps getting better and better- it might be one of my new favourite anime.

SPOILER: Show
