It's true, some of the songs are unfitting, and I laugh just thinking about them being in Eva at those parts.
But it's definately a north americanized way of seeing it.

It was actually interesting, as is most of Random's work. It also made the Shinji/Misato thing seem possible... well, once you get over the age difference and such.
