I always see Kensuke and Toji as a pair, where Kensuke's cool intellect offsets Toji's emotional brashness (and Toji's more grounded personality helps restrain Kensuke's more flighty imaginary life). Indeed at the least their names are both taken from Ai to Gensou no Fascism ...
