I thought Beserker mode meant the evas acted independently, and didn't affect the pilot. Because during the experiment with unit 00 where it went bat-shit crazy they ejected the plug and it just kept on pounding that wall, meaning it wasn't really synched with the pilot...or am I looking too...

During the infamous scene in EOE where Asuka fights the harpies, and then gets her unit-02 turned into a pin cushion; I never understood how she could still be synched with the eva after the batteries run out. Surely no power = no synch. Or did I miss something? Answers greatly appreciated.
