Much of the film, especially the first half, is in line with episodes like "Dance Like You Want To Win". Other things happened in the series besides angst-filled shrieks for death! 2.0 may be more "The Day Tokyo-3 Stood Still" than "Don't Be", but that doesn't m...

"Hmmmm, well, about what I expected"

THAT'S the worst case scenario ending. In a story as wide open as this one, with so many narrative possibilities, going with an ending that can be be predicted would be the only true failure.

If people are still willing to pay money for it, they will make more. Thats just the nature of franchises. Evangelion included. In almost all cases, a franchise's legal rights belong to corporations who can (and do) move forward regardless of the creator(s) desires. I doubt Jame...

^ But then how would they also copy Asuka's angelic infection in the eye? With the rules of cloning in Evangelion being so frustratingly vague, anything is possible. How do the Reis inherit their previous clone's memories? If technology can pull off that miracle, what's going on with As...

Hey, why not go all the way with it? There is no "curse of the Eva". The Asuka and Mari clones don't last long, you see. Telling them they'll never age is a lot palatable than the fact that they'll be killed soon by Gendo death bots.

I don't see why. The only reason there are four is because of some kind of Japanese sequencing gimmick nobody really cares about.

I already care about the world and the characters in it. Maybe you don't, but that doesn't have anything to do with what "Rebuild will be remembered as". You're casting you own feelings as the judgment of (anime) history. When we say Evangelion must do X Y and Z, we run...

I wonder if anybody on the Wunder will be questioning Misato's leadership skills in Final for letting Shinji live. I'm not expecting insubordination or mutiny, but I wonder if anyone will at least say how they feel it was a bad idea to keep him alive. Captain Ibuki FTW! With her in charge, ...

None of them had people they trusted and loved the most, write their names on their shit list. None of them carried guilt for causing a catastrophe. They had companions genuinely caring for them and supporting them. Shinji will at best get "allies out of necessity". At best. Frodo never e...

Rather than look to the past, I'd love to hear Sagisu expand upon the sound of "God's Gift". Electronic elements grounded with strings could create a really compelling score.

Everyone is assuming that the FrankenEva will be constructed the old fashioned way, by human hands, but this may not necessarily be the case. Perhaps Frankie represents yet another example of Evas transforming "on the fly", a la Beast Mode, or the various forms of Mark.09. It's hard to...

Yeah, and very sneaky! I don't think I'd ever realized it without someone telling me. The theory is that they're implying another Asuka mind rape inside Unit-03, though we may never know.

It's already been featured, in the most vague way possible, during the opening seconds of Les Betes:

This is sort of dishonest because it's ignoring the context that Kaworu at the time was an entity that had a biological imperative he couldn't ignore or defy except through being killed. And that, y'know, he was raised by the Evil Monolith Suicide Cult. I'm not sure what that partic...

In NGE, Kaworu also says that death is the only absolute freedom(/liberty). He may have a similarly... creative definition of "happy".

Nausicaa 2 would be awesome. I suspect that any further Eva stuff would be a big disappointment, each outing being more mainstream and pedestrian than the last. Some people probably even think that of Rebuild already, though that's a bit harsh, at least until we have the whole package. It's...

I wonder if the reality of Rebuild's Gendo is not unlike Watchmen 's Dr. Manhattan. That is, his sense of quasi-omniscience has detached from normal human experience. If he's completely convinced of his "scenario", there's no reason to get wrapped up in the present since he...
