Re: A remake or a sequel?
He gave us all the answers he feels we need . Beyond that, he's made it clear that it's for us to make up our own minds. And he did so by practically coming right out and saying, "THIS STUFF IS REALLY NOT THAT IMPORTANT" Ritsuko's muted line in EoE is about as overt and confrontational an...

Re: A remake or a sequel?
I think I'm the last person I know who thinks the time loop/sequel theory is too dumb to be true. Pointed allusions to the original series abound, but most people seem to think it's beyond the realm of possibility that the Rebuilds are making a metafictional commentary on their own status as a recur...

Uh... mainly I'm just curious to see what the hell Nintendo's game plan is for the coming year(s). A new Monolith Soft project would be nice.

Re: Last Movie You Watched
The Witch is the best horror movie in years, but apparently it's been mismarketed so egregiously that people all over the web are reporting horrible audiences of loud, obnoxious moviegoers who were expecting something more in the vein of Paranormal Activity than slow-building, atmospheric horror. T...

One of Kojima's writers dishes on the plot of MGSV, clears up little besides Kojima's superficial understanding of Moby Dick

Re: Do people still hate that last movie
Did anyone here ever bother to do an in-depth comparison on how the Official Khara Subs stack up against various fansubs or overseas releases? Or for that matter Funimation's own theatrical subs? (Which are curiously included on the disc, though the theatrical dub is not)

Re: Is Spike Spencer the main cause of Shinji hatred overseas?
Um, why? What's so wrong with something that could be loved by all? (or most, since this is humanity we're talking about) Nothing inherently, but not everything can or should be that. Shinji is a highly individual and flawed character; the qualities which make him unique and interesting are the qua...

Re: Is Spike Spencer the main cause of Shinji hatred overseas?
Animu voice acting sounds like animu voice acting in any language. This ain't news, especially if you've ever heard an actual Japanese person talk. I can count a very small number of anime where the Japanese voice actors are going for anything resembling realism as opposed to cartoon-style delivery,...

Re: Metal Gear Solid
Even the gameplay had major flaws - the open world is conspicuously empty outside of the handful of outposts and lacks flavor and variety outside of its overall geography, the Side Ops are hugely repetitive padding, there was very clearly meant to be at least one more area in addition to Afghanistan...

Re: Mohiro Kitoh
I legitimately want to know what kind of fucked-up thing(s) happened in Kitoh's childhood to make him as obsessed as he is with the subject of violence, sexuality and cosmic horror involving children. It goes way beyond abstract thematic interest with him and into the realm of fetishistic fixation. ...

Re: Do people still hate that last movie
The visuals are also a part of the script. (Scripts contain a lot of "Close-Up on..." "Pulls-Back on..." "P.O.V. Shot of..." "Asuka looks like she hasn't aged a day..." ect.) True, and I should know since I'm currently working on a (very amateur) screenwritin...

Re: Do people still hate that last movie
At some point in the future (when I'm not supposed to be working) I will bother trying to produce an actual writeup/potential megapost on what specifically I feel to be 3.0 's visual strengths. The short version is: breathtaking vistas of desolation, a lot of surrealist play with space and dimension...

Re: Evageeks is a story about repetition
My approach to narrative art and its industry since then has been very fast and loose, to the point where it's more of a flowing river than an unwavering foundation. Trying to stay artistically active will do that to an individual, I guess. Not being dogmatically tied to a single aesthetic system o...

X and Xenoblade's plots are not in any way connected, if anyone is unclear about that
They both borrow general themes and motifs from the previous Xeno games but that's about it.

Was gonna ask if anyone here's been playing Xenoblade X . I have; it's... interesting. I have a lot of thoughts on it but not really the time to get into them right now. Like Tetsuya Takahashi's older projects, it's a very ambitious and very flawed game, but this time it's flawed in a totally differ...

Re: Metal Gear Solid
I put upwards of 150 hours into MGS5 , beat every mission and Side Op, and I may even go back and try to S-rank all the missions. And yet every week or so, I still watch the E3 2014 " Nuclear " trailer and long for the game it seems to be promising, which is most certainly not the game I p...
