Of course, I don't know if there's any reason to bring Hikari and Ritsuko together, beyond simple aesthetics. But an E-Z-Write premise is supplied by the presumption that Ritsuko must have a dossier on everyone in Shinji's class, as a potential pilot candidate. In the vast and limitless ...

Actually, they did meet on one occasion. Does anyone else remember what it was? :)

Unfortunately, I'm such an otaku that you said "Ritsuko and Hikari" but I heard "Ritsuko x Hikari."

Isn't it easier if we pop in where Sadamoto may be and ask directly if he is actually drawing it? (Address is quite wonderful hee-hee... from the Sensei's wonderful connections) I actually did run into him this last spring. He said he was sorry it was taking so long. But Mr. Sadamot...

And don't forget, you can send in your fan mail and art to evangelion(at)darkhorse(dot)com. Out of curiosity, approximately how many submissions have you received so far? Approximately not very many. In fact, the best piece thus far was one done by a student from SCAD that I saw...

Huh-huh-huh...you said "butt." Of course, there is a new the-creator-actually-will-get-money-from-this-English-version of an Evangelion manga coming out in June, Dark Horse's The Shinji Ikari Raising Project . And don't forget, you can send in your fan mail and art to evangelion...

Creator Takao Saito said in his interview in Vol. 11 of the English version of the manga that it is true he's planned out the last Golgo 13 story, but it only exists in his head for now--it isn't actually kept in a safe or anything.

Since The Shinji Ikari Raising Project is basically about relationships, the translation will reflect that, in terms of how people address each other. I'll have to look at the new translation before making specific decisions ^_^ As for legal issues involving sending in things like fan art or cos...

Sure. I mean, I'm very familiar :) with the serious core of Evangelion . But its lighter aspect is often there, from the series' first gag moment in Episode 1 (Shinji looking at Misato's photo) all the way through to the "alternate world" scenes in Episode 26, which...

Sure! Maybe I'm being a little premature in bringing all this up, since Vol. 1 won't appear in stores until late spring of next year, but we'll probably start production on it before long. I'll try to set up a dedicated e-mail address soon where people can send in their fan art and ...

Right-to-left, although it would be fun to experiment with alternate formats, like printing it on a harisen you could open up and then whack people with, or deliberately not gluing the spine, so the pages fall randomly to the ground and you cast your future from the pattern.

I thought it would be interesting to release Ikari Shinji Ikusei Keikaku. I would like it to be a fun book, and specifically, I'd like it to be a venue for Evangelion fan art and letters the way "Misato's Fan Service Center" was back in the day.

If there is in fact a connection between Eva and the appearance of 400 year-old German text, it may be through the 400 year-old German Athanasius Kircher (1602-1680). The "Systema Sephiroticum" diagram used in the opening credits was from his studies of the Kabbalah. Considering th...

I'm not sure about "main basis," but it would have been impossible for Eva-- a show about a violent, religious-toned apocalypse planned by a power-hungry cabal--not to be viewed by many in the Japanese audience in light of Aum Shinri Kyo. Their sarin gas attack happened while the TV s...

Residents of the United Kingdom have often called anime "manga videos" after the company Manga Video (the same firm which released The End of Evangelion ). To be fair, one of the very first U.S. anime labels called itself "U.S. Manga Corps." I would try to correct someone...

I just finished watching Gunbuster for the first time a couple of days ago, and I really enjoyed it. It had a GREAT ending, but I didn't find it to be as sad as everyone else seems to. I'm not so sure about all of the fanservice though. Having Noriko rip her top off while inside Buster#3 se...
