Just look at the series Anno directed after Eva: Kare Kano, a near-perfect slice-of-life comedy (although a tad melodramatic for a genre where the lack of conflict is meant to the point).

Since never. “Journalism” doesn’t really relate in that way in entertainment anyway. Movie/game reviews were always opinion pieces anyway, and money/bribes can greatly sway that opinion. Announcements for entertainment media releases are little more than advertisements taking on a form different fr...

^ Indeed, he denies that her actions are malicious, when clearly they are. The problem is that some of you can't accept that a character who is a "bully" might also be sympathetic and well-rounded.

Okay, I should point out that what I said is that "Penguindrum is the worst thing Ikuhara was done"—not saying it's the worst show of all time, just that, in comparison to Ikuhara's other works (well, "work"—he himself has complained about chafing against the producer...

^ All that backstory, and Shouma can be summed up as "What would Shinji do?" All that buildup, and Momoka can be summed up as "Jesus with a peach." All that mystery, and Mario is a fucking useless character.

So, do you think it's really bad, or just not as good as Utena? I honestly think it's bad. One-dimensional characters, a plot that's not just surreal, but founded upon constantly contradicting information given earlier in the series, some extremely contrived situations, characters who d...

You're not considering the different mores of Japanese culture, where it's not uncommon for children—even young children—to be expected to take responsibility for themselves and others. Think of it as Anno's social critique.

Anno says the new offering from Gainax will consider some of the ultimate questions posed by science fiction, and, indeed, philosophy, such as: What is the nature of evolution? What is humanity's relationship to his or her God? Does god, in fact, exist? What does it mean for the human race if t...

Bleh, looks almost identical to Shadowjack's timeline—the only difference being that he moves the events of episode 24 back by one day, so the 17th Angel battle occurs on the 24th. And, as NemZ noted in another thread, the attack on NERV can't be the day after Kaworu's death—both sides n...
