Re: So I should go ahead and watch the Rebuilds right?
They're definitely worth a watch, just don't expect them to be like NGE as they're very much their own thing. Especially from the end of 2.0 onward. Having rewatched both series recently, my current opinion is this: NGE has inferior animation but much better storytelling and coherence, while the Reb...

Re: Whats next for evangelion?
I agree, I would actually enjoy an Evangelion video game, does anyone know if there is one in the works? Or why there aren’t many Evangelion fighting/action games for console/PC I seem to recall a couple of older ones and I believe I’ve heard of a VR Evangelion game, but Ive always wondered why the...

- Unit Zero's berserker activations have nothing to do with the soul inside it. They happen because all prototypes had malformed brains and were thus highly mentally unstable. Unit Zero just can't stand anyone thinking above a "whisper level" inside its entry plug. - The jaw armor of evas ...

Re: What does Evangelion remind you of?
NGE reminds me of a Colonel Kurtz quote from Apocalypse Now: "I saw a snail crawl along the edge of a straight razor. This is my dream. It is my nightmare. Crawling, slithering, along the edge of a straight razor... and surviving." The snail is NERV. The straight razor represents the angel...

Re: A mediocre Future (Will future Eva be Shallow without The Director?)
It could go either way. To be honest, from what I've seen of the 4th rebuild film, it seems like Anno was starting to run out of good ideas for the franchise anyhow. I'd say the chances of future eva being mediocre vs being good are roughly 60/40. That goes up to 80/20 if any western or westernized ...

Re: What would you change about Evangelion?
(PS in personal drafts you can just remove the scene altough eva has a lot of this type of humor and it takes away the need to make the characters older). (scene can be solved by Gendo being pragmatic and take them along so if the mission fails Shinji knows his friends will die and change the aircr...

Re: What would you change about Evangelion?
No changes to the adults? They are somewhat underused and would probably benefit most from changes? PS I'm not sure making the characters older would help the situation it would make them more horny and more awkward whilst giving the audience less tolerance for it. Can you describe a scene where ma...

Re: What would you change about Evangelion?
After re-watching the series on blu-ray, I feel like updating my older post I made in this thread 7 years ago. There's plenty more I'd change now. Basic outline of my changes: - NGE takes place in 2018 instead of 2015. This would make all of the pilots at least 16 and remove a lot of the painful awk...

Looks like we're finally getting a US release of GuP: das Finale (Part 1) on September 14th. I just happened across the pre-order page while browsing Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Girls-Panzer-Das-Finale-Blu-ray/dp/B098CR9629/ref=pd_sbs_15/137-9633756-0971526?pd_rd_w=KNOxS&pf_rd_p=0a3ad226-8a77...

Re: GKids releasing NGE Blu-Ray in North America 2021
Looks like I'll be getting the standard edition for $50. Can't justify an extra $125 to get access to the classic dub (the only extra feature I care about), that's one hell of a paywall. I would have gladly payed $80 or $100 for a CE with the original dub, but not $175. I'm not keen on pre-ordering ...

Re: GKids releasing NGE Blu-Ray in North America 2021
Pretty cool they're including the original dub in the UE, but there's no way in hell I'm paying $274.99 for that, especially with how it's packaged. I'll wait for an edition that comes in regular blu-ray cases for $100 or less, original dub or no. Kinda ticks me off that we have to wait another 10 d...

Re: What's the Worst Movie You've Ever Seen?
A Walk in the Sun (1945): Think of every good war movie you've ever seen. Movies like Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, the Rambo series, etc. There's always plenty of action and drama on screen, rarely any slow moments. Now, try to imagine a film that would be the complete antithesis of these fil...

1: All video games in the Action, JRPG, Adventure, Action/Adventure, Stealth, Shooter, and ARPG genres drop the open world format and go back to the corridor/zone-based, narrative-driven format. Open world has been done to death, and shoehorning it into everything has destroyed many franchises I use...

Re: Final Fantasy series
It took a while for me to buy a copy of FFVII Remake Part 1 (higher priorities and all), but I finally got it and played through it. Even though I almost never post here anymore, I felt compelled to leave my thoughts and reaction here since this is where I was getting so hyped up for it years ago. I...

Re: Star Wars Episode II - A New Thread
I just saw the new Episode IX trailer. Yeah, I think I'm done with Star Wars. The desert skiff copy-paste was bad enough, but bringing an extremely dead villain back (whose arc already had a definitive ending) really pushed me over the edge. I don't know how he came back, and I don't care, it should...

Re: 2018 Positivity Thread (Good things that happened, you came across, etc.)
I've largely stopped playing World of Tanks and completely stopped spending money on it, which both frees up quite a bit of extra cash and enables me to actually play other games now that I'm not playing that endless grindfest. I'm seriously considering uninstalling now, because the game just isn't ...

^ This breakdown was super interesting to me, as I am pretty unable to put off my nostalgia glasses as I was a huge fan of Harry Potter as a kid, lol. I really like movie no.3 and 6 the best, the visual direction in those I remember being super cool. My favorites were Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of...
