I think you might have a point with DEATH being its own canon, separate from NGETV. You could argue that DEATH is not followed by End of Evangelion but by REBIRTH and that, if you're studying and discussing this alternate canon, you should be watching DEATH & REBIRTH and not End of Evangelion.
