How big of a collection of comics do you all have? Mine's pretty modest. I couldn't start collecting them until about a year ago. It's steadily growing. Mostly TPBs with a few hardcovers. I'd say about 15 - 20. I have a dozen or so single issues but I think I'll stop buying them ...

Apocalypse Zero ended abruptly, but I really liked the first two episodes. Couldn't be bothered to read the manga though. I give Aeon Flux a pass because, while it was American...it just does not follow American animation convention. It's a French-science fiction cartoon directed by Peter Ch...

But anyway, you guys need to Realize something. As much as I love superheroes. The best comic books out there DO NOT INVOLVE SUPERHEROES! I think that really depends on personal preference. What you like, others might not like, etc. But speaking of non-superhero comics, I read Ex Machina and Y: The...

Mark Millar is supposed to be a devout Christian or something, right? His latest superhero comic, Jupiter's Legacy, kills off its Superman analogue in issue #3 (it's pretty early on, since it's supposed to be about 10 issues long). It was brutal. All the other superheroes a...

I just watched that On Your Mark music video that Miyazaki made and the Daicon opening animations by proto-Gainax. I liked the former, but I really loved the Daicon animations. They're pretty much the stuff that makes anime awesome instilled into 5-minute long shorts consisting of amazing animat...

This discussion has made me want to read Miracleman/Marvelman. I think Neil Gaiman is supposed to come back and finish what he started sometime in the future. This is after like 25 years of being stuck in limbo when his run was cut short.

Nevermind then. Last I checked they were making the sequel in comic book form. Hadn't seen that article from a few months ago.

I've read 10 issues of Mark Waid's Daredevil. It probably won't hold up after I read the Miller and Bendis runs, but right now it seems pretty darn decent. I think I'll hold it off for now and read Miller's work with the character. Based off of what you've told me so far, I g...

I feel dirty. :um:

Edit: Forget what I wrote. I should obviously never be let near a Judge Dredd fanfic, let alone coming up with ideas for a sequel or how to improve it.

Fair enough, but I thought that was one of the great strengths of the movie: it's harsh, unrelenting depiction of violence in a realistic sense. A long, drawn out fight would have been completely against the tone of the film. Think of how quickly the corrupt Judges went down: the one that laste...

^ On some days, I actually agree with this. I dunno, man. :sniffle: On an unrelated note, I've read 15 issues of Slott's Superior Spider-Man . It's okay, I guess. I don't like the idea of Dr. Octopus taking over Spidey's body (even if it's temporarily). I have this na...

MaMa's actual right hand man (Caleb) is really competent (he's the one managing her business, giving the orders, and after the minigun scene tells his crew that if they don't see a body, the Judges aren't dead). The problem is, he's up against Dredd. I think a dr...

If you liked The Raid you need to see Dredd. It's nothing like the Stallone movie. At all. It's pretty much the polar opposite of that. It's one of the most brutal non-horror movies I've ever seen. The only flaw I could find was that Mama's character wasn't supported by a pr...

The Boys isn't really a superhero comic. It's about assholes who dress up in costumes and do all that stuff because they can. Garth Ennis misses the entire point of superheroes with that one series. But I guess what really gets me is that, and this is just my opinion, he actually thinks he&#...

I'm not a fan of Mark Millar. But I've read some of his comics and enjoyed some of them enough to write a little bit about them. Civil War - Meh. Event books are rarely good and this isn't an exception. There were some cool bits where the characters had their little moments, but that'...

A while ago I had this dream about Evangelion. I remember it being awesome, but I don't remember too much. The details are a little blurry. So, it starts with Asuka appearing before Shinji on a motorcycle wearing her red plug suit. She's carrying uzis and has a pissed off look. She grabs Shi...

I think Alan Moore once said every superhero comic published after the late 1960s is fan fiction. Spider-Man was my absolute favorite superhero back in the early 00's. The first two Sam Raimi movies plus that animated show on Fox. But I didn't like him for saving the day and stuff in that sp...
