Re: FML general thread [8]

You're not boned. Going from what you've said, you're going through a really rough time (not helped by the circumstances that serve to push you into a bad state of mind), but you're not forever screwed. Here's the thing: you're only 24 years old. That's a fairly long time to be around, to have stuff...

Re: Star Wars

It's because he took the best ST film - Wrath of Khan - and made a very visually striking film... Well, the obnoxiously bright lens flares were certainly striking, if that's what you mean. (Sorry, I couldn't resist, but I am genuinely curious as to what parts of Into Darkness were visually striking...

LIST HAS BEEN UPDATED WITH SUGGESTIONS FROM DK VINE AND OTHER WEBSITES I WAS RECOMMENDED TO CHECK OUT, AS OF 18:08 - 4/SEPTEMBER/2017. Hey there, everyone! Re: Superhero/Comic Based Films & Tv - Vol.2

Lindsay Ellis (formerly the Nostalgia Chick, now an excellent video essayist regarding film analysis) uploaded an in-depth analysis for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 , if you want to check it out. I won't say much more than that it's a very good video that made me rather interested in the film (th...

Re: Commentary: Episode 07

Awesome! Reading the commentaries is something I always love to do when I'm bored, and I'm more than willing to join in! Cut 013: It's a relatively minor cut, but I just love the expression on Shinji's face. In general, Evangelion is a show full of excellent character expressions that tell us exactl...

Keep on truckin! I haven't had anything to say or add for a while, but whenever I reach my next inevitable animation binge your project is the first thing I'll check out. Awesome, thank you! I hope you come across a few unexpected surprises; those tend to be the best parts of checking bi...

Re: Star Wars

Wasn't Obi-Wan supposed to have gone into hiding between III & IV? As in, keeping out of the way and doing as little as possible in order to not attract the Empire's attention? Because if that's the case, I really don't know how you can make a big blockbuster film about a character who is delibe...

Re: Star Wars

So that's... what now, THREE Star Wars spin-off films where the entire premise seems to be based on fanservice and nothing else? Rouge One : Let's take this opportunity to expand on the Star Wars universe by addressing a 'plothole' that only riles up CinemaSins and overly nitpicky folks. Han Solo: L...

Re: FML general thread [8]

This has been poking at me for the last couple of weeks, but I figured I may as well rant about it today. My dad and I are the only people who use our PC, so whenever I decide to pop on over to YouTube, I can see recommendations based on videos he's been watching. Most of them tend to be comedians/a...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Was very bored yesterday, so I picked a random film from a list on Netflix and watched it: Not Another Teen Movie , a 2001 comedy that takes every single high-school movie cliché and exaggerates it to hell and back. The plot is basically She's All That , to the point where Chris Evans and Chyler Lei...

Translating the S2 Works Booklet (or some of it)

The soundtrack to Neon Genesis Evangelion is one of my all time favourite soundtracks, and the man who composed them, Shiro Sagisu, is one of my all time favourite composers. Because of that, I'd like to to find interviews with him or his comments on music he's worked on, but I tend to come up unluc...

Re: What are you watching right now? (tv series + see OP!)

Just finished watching the Castlevania Netflix series and I gotta be honest, that was terrible. I'm not really a fan of the series, so this isn't some bitter fanboyism masquerading as critique. My issues with the series lie with its mistakes and them alone. So, what did I not like about the series? ...

Day of Action: Internet-Wide Blackout on July 12th (#NetNeutrality)

Net Neutrality is the idea that Internet service providers should enable people to access all content and applications, regardless of who is accessing it or from where, and without favouring or blocking particular products or websites. It is, in short, the idea that the Internet should be free for ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

So, I ended up watching episodes 18-21 of Gurren Lagann yesterday. The fact that I was hooked enough not just three, but FOUR, episodes in one sitting likely speaks volumes of how much I've gotten into this show. Unfortunately, watching more than a couple of episodes results in them blurring togethe...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

I had a couple of hours to kill, so I decided to watch The Full Monty . It's considered a (fairly) modern British comedy classic, or is at least very well liked from what I generally gathered, so I was looking forward to seeing how it turned it. How's the film? Eh, it's alright. It's not terrible; f...
