Re: Most Accurate Translation for The End of Evangelion

Believe it or not, this project still has a heartbeat, and it's getting louder. The OCD side of me can't let the release date slip past the year the story takes place, which is of course...oh crap! 2016! That's this year! I'm writing release notes, but I have no idea how to credit the guy who transc...

Neon Genesis Evangelion: Digitally Re-Created VHS Subtitles

This is a set of subtitles for Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995–1996) based on the original VHS tapes released by ADV Films. Happy Second Impact Day, and Happy 20th Anniversary to all you hedgehogs out there! https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B4fNpxiuCvtEbTRPVlkzQlBMa28 So far, there have been three of...

I most certainly am! Thank you for the support. I have another line here that I would like some help with. Keep in mind this is using the same questionable transcript as before, so it may have errors. 01:22:40,105 --> 01:22:41,883 自分が自分でいる{...

Episode 21 Episode 22 Episode 23 Wow! It was very interesting to learn about how many little differences there are that I missed. Great work here. The comparison for episode 24 is almost complete Looking forward to it. Sorry for the horrible English I've used on those pages, I'd love if a n...

The comparations i mentioned were somewhere in the wiki (don't remember exactly where, sorry about that) Regarding different animations/drawing styles with Asuka (Specifically, in the scene where she is talking with her stepmother, and her scream when the light hits her) She loo...

Thanks, Hyper Shinchan. That's all incredibly helpful. It is a shame though that there's no easily accessible high quality release. Man, of the few Renewal/Original comparisons i've seen, i've arrived at the exact contrary conclusion. Regardless, i would be lying if i said it didn...

Are you saying episodes 1-20 for this set aren't the broadcast version? Or do you mean that 21-24 simply isn't the Director's Cut version?

Thanks for the recommendation, I will consider it. Also, what would you say is the closest NTSC equivalent of the Second Impact Box?

So what is the highest quality version of "2) First home video release"? You can't ask for download links of copyrighted material in this website. To clarify, I wasn't asking for any such thing, I was asking for information on versions, i.e. Perfect, Renewal, Platinum, etc. Als...

Original Japanese TV Episodes

I'm looking for a high quality version of the complete original TV series (episodes 1-26) that is as close to the originally aired episodes as possible. Subtitles are completely optional. What I really need is the raw Japanese video and audio. I'm aware that there are at least two va...

Thanks for checking that out! After looking at what it actually says, now I'm thinking maybe this would be a better translation (although again, I hardly know what I'm doing here): But I'll continue to think about my existence since birth. Even though there are lines like this th...

I actually see the missing lines as a secondary priority at the moment, since most of it is background dialog (intercom broadcasts, radio communications, etc.) My main concern right now is several important lines that are difficult to translate, this one causing me the most grief: 01:22:26,4...

Thank you, Reichu! That is a very generous offer. If there are more here than you anticipated, let me know before transcribing and I can point to the ones that seem the most crucial. This was basically a copy and paste reply on my part, because I had these documented before your offer. The line numb...

Thanks for the offer, but as you surmised, I wouldn't be able to transcribe by sight (but I do think I know the one you're talking about, I saw one in the topic Ornette linked me to earlier in this topic).

I'm in need of something digital that I can copy and paste.

Does anyone know of a Japanese script more complete than this one? http://www002.upp.so-net.ne.jp/jsrc/dust/theend.html It's been invaluable, but there are many lines of dialog missing. Has anyone transcribed these missing lines? On top of that, I've even caught a few lines that are incorrec...

Why should you uninstall them? Just leave them here, they can be handy with Japanese programs. Well, they take up almost 230mb, and I have no Japanese programs. Also, do you have "View/Character Encoding/Auto-Detect/Universal" enabled? I do not. Maybe I should have had it set to Japanese,...

Thanks guys, I got it working! :) I had actually already tried enabling SHIFT_JIS before, but what I was doing wrong was using the html file I saved before enabling it. I didn't know until just now that html files are saved differently depending on which Character Encoding is selected. You&#...

How do I get this to display? I've been able to display every Japanese page I've run into in the past, but this one is showing up as gibberish.

I'm using Firefox in Windows XP.

Well, while I did say "verbal"... It can be both, to be honest. Ellipsis or comma in the script; brief pause in the performance. Like when Shinji talks about what scum he is (written in the script as "Saitei da... ore 'tte"). I think my own creative preference is to ...
