Re: FML general thread [8]

Some dum-dum came onto my campus with a gun a few days ago, a couple buildings down from where I live. Nobody got shot (a guy did get pistol-whipped, but he let the dum-dum into the building in the first place so my sympathy for him is low ) but we did go into lockdown for two hours. School gives a ...

Re: Superhero Films & TV

Not that I read the comic but I'd hypothesize that Ryan Reynold's Deadpool is not made for the fans of the Deadpool comic book. Anecdotal evidence this may be, but after the premiere, people I knew wouldn't stop talking about just how faithful Deadpool was to the comics. It certainly adheres quite ...

Re: Superhero Films & TV

He said the characters, not the actors. Re-casts happen-- is there a reason to think that we'd never see Wolverine and Deadpool at the same time?

Re: Superhero Films & TV

I have no idea why you'd think that, since both Deadpool and X-Men are owned by Fox. Crossovers among one's owned properties are nothing new.

The "One Punch Man was here" is pretty hilarious, though. (Property damage aside.)

There does not seem to be a problem with something being wish fulfillment if it's a film that you walk out of feeling like you enjoyed yourself.

Re: Hardcore Henry

I don't really understand how a first person film is different from a found footage film a la _Blair Witch Project_ or _Cloverfield._ Is it just the fact that we're pretending the viewpoint character doesn't have a camera? It's not so much pretending that our viewpoint character doesn't have a came...

Re: Hardcore Harry

I feel like I saw something with a similar concept a while back. I'm not sure how I feel about it-- if the buzz is good, I might go see it. I had the idea for a first-person film a few years ago, and it's interesting that I may get to see one made.

Re: Pilot ages

But of course, the Eva's of NTE (save for Unit 01 (sort of) are following new rules, best seen with Asuka and Mari swapping their Eva's with ease without a hint of mother soul-in-core shenanigans. So, any ideas as to why the pilots must be so young in these new films? Keep in mind that the core in ...

Re: Is Shinji evil?

As long as we're going off on a tangent about Shinji with regard to the specific example of Nazism and we're accepting it as a premise... Shinji has limits. If there's something he really doesn't want to do, nothing's going to make him do it. I think that even if Shinji could be truly detached from ...

I'm not going to be thinking about my avatar come the new month, so I'm changing it now.

There's no way I'm ever going to remember the guy as any character other than Severus Snape. Sad to think that he's gone now.
