Re: Darling in the Franxx (Studio Trigger)

The kids were all genetically modified for piloting and as former pilots, Hachi and Nana are included in that category. Seeing how they were never supposed to be anything more than canon fodder who die young, I can totally see the process intentionally ignoring them to leave them behind to die. The...

This bit we did see : VIRM ripped out the souls of all the adults and took them away to add to their collection; the ZeroTwo/Hiro's kamikaze strike released all of VIRM's col...

Re: Darling in the Franxx (Studio Trigger)

I just recently saw this one. I saw someone compare it to Evangelion (or at least, that it borrows a lot from it). So that was my mindset when watching it. Kept expecting the kids to end up with gruesome deaths, but even the girl that got crushed in 1st episode appeared to be safe and sound. The onl...

... side question; why does the wunder have 3 satellite dishes? I see no tactical/engineering reason for it Assuming the diameter of the dish is 175 m (size of large nuclear submarines) the wunder's surface area per dish is 24,052.819 m² times 3 its 72,158.456 m²........... The VLA has 28-25m dishe...

Re: Tim Miller's Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

I must say, that does sound interesting. I think this outlines the problem with the original Terminator franchise. The first 2 movies were fine, the rest just overdoes it. If skynet could easily nuke the planet, then why bother sending infiltrators into camps? Just drop another nuke on them. The sto...

Re: Spring Cleaning 2019

I noticed a large influx of spam/bot accounts on social media, probably in preparation of the next american presidential election. On imgur, for example, throw away accounts that spam relatively safe stuff to build a reputation, and then start inserting political comments. It's a really weird phenom...

Re: Tim Miller's Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

Exactly, most movies have flashforwards about the future, mostly showing HK's and T1's, some are about the future, and also prominently feature these "dumb" bots. But they do manage to send highly advanced alien-tech-esque scifi back to the past? When and where did those get developed? Oh,...

Re: Tim Miller's Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

What I Miss about Terminator, is how the machines are kinda "dumb" but driven, focussed to a singular task. Real killer machines that you set loose on a target, and you just wait while it searches and destroys. T2 already diverted a bit from this by giving arnie a bit more personality, but...

Re: Ego Dissolution and LSD

I vaguely recall there being a movie that has been compared to EoE a few times, about a guy who experiments with psychedelic drugs to perform a sort of one-man human instrumentality project and in the end he succeeds. So you're not the first to link the barrier-thing (at fields) and breaking it down...

Re: Would you pilot an eva?

That really depends. Just pilot one for a time for kicks? Sure. Or do you want me to put myself in Shinji's shoes? Most probably not. Mari usually seems to have a lot of fun piloting her eva, even if/when it hurts like hell. Also the "curse of eva" from rebuild essentially makes you immort...

Re: The Vatican Treaty is still in effect.

For HIP to work, they would need a sufficient amount of alive people, right?

It's probably what those huge amounts of mp eva's are for (assuming they already got people in them), but still.

Re: "You know you're obsessed with NGE when" thread

Sort of same here, I'm interested in NGE and NTE, but thats about it. Even didn't care much for the additional story provided by the Evangelion games (the shit about FAR and all that, never liked it). I own the manga, NGE on DVD and the NTE movies on Bluray. And these stories already differ enough f...

And not wanting to fight the possessed Eva Touji was piloting (mirrored by Asuka in rebuild, sure, different continuity, but Shinji's character is largely the same). And before that, with Shamshel. He was genuinely concerned about their wellbeing. He would rather get hurt himself than to hurt someon...

Re: How do we know that Lilith had her own spear?

Most of these questions were answered by hints in the series and a lot of guess work. But were mostly confirmed by Evangelion games. The black moon crashed into earth, debris collected from the collision became Earth's Moon, this is 1st impact. Embedded deep underneath Japan, this becomes the Geo Fr...

Re: Failures of Infinity: Don't lose your head!

I was typing up a whole rebuttal, but I suppose I can't get around why the people who turned into fols would have the fruit of life, and would need to (re)claim a fruit of wisdom. Guess I didn't think that through. It's just that fruit of wisdom for the head would make more sense, or maybe we're loo...

Re: Failures of Infinity: Don't lose your head!

Been a while since I read this whole thread (so excuse me if I bring up stuff already mentioned), but I had a train of thought about this yesterday, so I thought I'd share. Losing a head / being headless seems to be a common theme in NTE, I'm starting to think that it head holds the fruit of wisdom,...

Re: My Anxiety for Evangelion

I saw NGE around the same age, and had the same feeling. But I thought it was awesome. Never before was a movie/series able to hit me that hard. Especially EoE, I felt it in my soul, it changed me, and at first I hated it. After a while, I noticed I couldn't help but to keep thinking about it, littl...
