I suspect the dub re-recording rumors come more from a desire to trash the english cast than Khara/Anno raising some kind of stink. I mean, why would Japan start micromanaging the issue now? For seventeen years, they've been completely hands off.

Am I the only one here who actually liked the dub for EOE? I'm actually not completely down on it. The returning VAs do some of their strongest work. But when Manga had to recast a role, they dropped the ball in just about every instance (Keel's new voice sounds like he's mocking th...

Why is that insane? It's perfectly reasonable for animation of this complexity. I wish the films would come out sooner too, but it's a matter of practicality. Mind-blowing anime visuals are produced in years, not months. There's not an infinite supply of people to work in this semi-profi...

I hope they avoid reset-type endings all together. It's becoming a bit of a cliche, especially in anime. It allows an "epic" climax, but without the narrative weight of true resolution. Way too easy, in other words. These characters' conclusions don't deserve to be wiped away i...

The way some fans are invested in a nihilistic ending for this series, I'm actually kinda scared for them if we get a happy one. The moment Shinji expresses hope for the future, they're gonna stick a gun in their mouths.

You know, after seeing Q I found that Jo stood up on its own in a way I hadn’t noticed before. I mean, sure. It was a decent enough film on its own, especially for those who hadn’t seen NGE yet. But after seeing the drastic changes in Misato and Shinji’s relationship in Q, I can appreciate these sm...

Much of the film, especially the first half, is in line with episodes like "Dance Like You Want To Win". Other things happened in the series besides angst-filled shrieks for death! 2.0 may be more "The Day Tokyo-3 Stood Still" than "Don't Be", but that doesn't m...

"Hmmmm, well, about what I expected"

THAT'S the worst case scenario ending. In a story as wide open as this one, with so many narrative possibilities, going with an ending that can be be predicted would be the only true failure.

If people are still willing to pay money for it, they will make more. Thats just the nature of franchises. Evangelion included. In almost all cases, a franchise's legal rights belong to corporations who can (and do) move forward regardless of the creator(s) desires. I doubt Jame...

^ But then how would they also copy Asuka's angelic infection in the eye? With the rules of cloning in Evangelion being so frustratingly vague, anything is possible. How do the Reis inherit their previous clone's memories? If technology can pull off that miracle, what's going on with As...

Hey, why not go all the way with it? There is no "curse of the Eva". The Asuka and Mari clones don't last long, you see. Telling them they'll never age is a lot palatable than the fact that they'll be killed soon by Gendo death bots.

I don't see why. The only reason there are four is because of some kind of Japanese sequencing gimmick nobody really cares about.

I already care about the world and the characters in it. Maybe you don't, but that doesn't have anything to do with what "Rebuild will be remembered as". You're casting you own feelings as the judgment of (anime) history. When we say Evangelion must do X Y and Z, we run...

I wonder if anybody on the Wunder will be questioning Misato's leadership skills in Final for letting Shinji live. I'm not expecting insubordination or mutiny, but I wonder if anyone will at least say how they feel it was a bad idea to keep him alive. Captain Ibuki FTW! With her in charge, ...

None of them had people they trusted and loved the most, write their names on their shit list. None of them carried guilt for causing a catastrophe. They had companions genuinely caring for them and supporting them. Shinji will at best get "allies out of necessity". At best. Frodo never e...

Rather than look to the past, I'd love to hear Sagisu expand upon the sound of "God's Gift". Electronic elements grounded with strings could create a really compelling score.
