It's better to preserve the surprising elements of Q for viewers who aren't aware of it, IMO. The original preview may even be an intentional misdirect with that in mind.

I don't think anything needs to be explained or justified, you just plain disliked how Anno chose to tell the story. Which is fine. If it's any consolation, I'll be surprised if the major character relationships don't change in Final.
