An eva wouldn't even be able to stand, it's too tall, thin and heavy. It would just collapse under its own weight. As for a Gundam robot it might be possible with good hydrolics. Who knows. Did Unit 00 not throw a lances through the atmossphere, did Eva Unit 01 not break the sound barrier? ...
