Re: 3.0+1.0's Troll Potential

Aaaanywho, um.... The end credits will be in the middle of the Shin Eva movie. No explanation. (EoE style.) Many audience members will leave the theater during these credits. Some will stay, finding the other half of the movie after the credits. Word-of-mouth spreads about this oddity, causing the a...

Re: 3.0+1.0's Troll Potential

Well, to be fair, there’s a clear difference between a middle schooler/high schooler watching Eva and responding to the pilots’ suits, and a 32-year-old curmudgeon of a man (myself) watching Eva. It’s like watching Disney's Aladdin as a kid and thinking “Jasmine is kinda hot,” then revisiting the fi...

Re: 3.0+1.0's Troll Potential

If a scene is deleted from the film, and the world-building provided in that deleted scene isn't reproduced anywhere else in the finished story, then the world-building is also deleted. Khara made a conscience effort to delete the scene and its world-building for specific reasons, and, until they de...

Re: 3.0+1.0's Troll Potential

Reichu, lol, let be try to dance around your half seriousness in my response. I think most of the shots you described were still meant to be presented as being "all in good fun," for the viewer upon first viewing. Certain audience members (such as you and me) might still feel creeped out ...

Re: 3.0+1.0's Troll Potential

You know, the new Evangelion movies haven't shown any material that makes audiences regret birthday suit fan service yet. Like, there was an abundance of the sort of fan service in 1.11 and 2.22, and a stark lack thereof in 3.33, but nothing that was intended on causing the audience to react with di...

Re: CGI buildings in EoE

I think it was discovered that some computer graphic assistance was involved, though I'm still skeptical if all of the buildings were rendered in 3-D. I think it might be several photographed elements (miniature buildings, footage taken on a train, etc.) digitally composited together to make it all ...

Re: Death of Misato's Alpine Renault

Well, it also gets completely wrecked in 2.22, and she replaces it with some other car. (I don't know the model, but it's a very sporty-looking car with GunBuster pilot suit colors painted on it.)

Re: Shin Eva - Official Social Media

Aren’t both Toho and Toei handling the distribution of Shin Eva? If two whole studios are involved then I think distribution of the film wouldn’t be as loose and as fluid as some of the smaller movies. Both parties need to be happy with the new release date, with the opportunity to make as much mone...

Re: Nemesis Ra Kozo: Fuyutsuki's Possible Role in Shin

The experience of those Island episodes is like if you were watching the original JAWS and right as the main three characters head out on the Orca to confront that bastard shark a full 90 minutes of JAWS: THE REVENGE, one of the most infamously awful films of all time, is spliced into the picture a...

Re: Nemesis Ra Kozo: Fuyutsuki's Possible Role in Shin

If you're planning on watching Nadia just be aware that there's this whole "Island Arc" 23 episodes in that's a slog to get through before it turns into the "African Arc" that's somehow even more of a pain to get through. I think the two arcs combines only last about 13 episodes,...

Re: Groundwork of Evangelion artbooks getting digital re-release

I kinda want the physical copies, though. I have Groundowrk books for VOL.2 and The Movie 1, as well as all of the "Rebuild" groundwork books. Great stuff in all of them. I always get inspired/jealous every time I thumb through them.

I'd pay actual money to see this doc released by Funimation. (Unless they get cold feet about it, a lá Interspecies Reviewers.)

Re: Did anything interesting happen on September 13th 2000?

^ Given how much NGE’s opening titles mirrors those of UFO, another Gerry Anderson work, I wouldn’t be surprised. He probably grew up on Japanese dubs of his shows as a kid.

Yeah, even in the original King Kong and King Kong vs Godzilla you have a lot of humanizing moments with the native islanders. Sure, the Godzilla movie shows the islanders as being a bit more silly than the 1933 films, but the movie shows everyone as being relatively silly when it comes to their int...
