Followed by the fun of building imperial walkers with lego bricks.

The line that I'm partial to is "I wasn't banging Rei" since that seems to be one of Ritsuko's suspicions. Not those precise words of course. Following what Shin-Seiki said, it's best to go about this by process of elimination. 1) He's not going to say anything abou...

Wheels, huge insects, extra limbs, it's all good. As long as they don't have an undersea eva piloted by a dolphin. If that happens, I'm boycotting.

I see it in an entirely different way. Neuroscience & neurosurgery are fairly advanced fields, they've been sticking electrodes into peoples heads for a long time now, they already know what parts of the brain are responsible for memory and selection of specific memories probably ain't t...

I meant specifically in relation to Rei because she'd died and her soul was easily malleable. Removing Asuka's soul to manipulate memories would cause issues, as Kyoko shows. My own guess is that manipulating memories would be easier to do on a living being than on the souls of the deceased...

Being flash-fried is a reasonable cause of mental trauma to induce such memory lapses on it's own. Dying in -any- manner might do it, but the literal 'die in a fire' she experiences can't have helped. Yeah. Given the lack of good evidence for more interesting scenarios this seems th...

This is going to date me something awful. I had two channels on an ancient black-and-white TV. My favorite shows were: The Man from Atlantis The Six Million Dollar Man The Incredible Hulk (go Lou!) For a long time the only cartoons were Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner and whatever the "Wonderful ...

perhaps they were not able to retrieve all of her soul after she self destructed. she was turned into fried chicken Too bad we can't find someone with a PhD in metabiology to explain the soul retrieval process to us. But seriously, I don't buy that because it would imply that destruction of...

I've re-listened to bits of Eps 24 and, yes, know I hear the distinct break between the "a" and "o" in Kaoru. Particularly when Kaworu himself says it, he always articulates things very precisely. I never realized until now how annoying his speech sounds...

I bought it a couple years ago when the Platinum thinpacks were on sale for $50. I hadn't seen it before, but I figured that I couldn't lose at that price given that others had already recommended the show to me. At the end of the second episode when Sho's mask fell off, I thought "...

Unfortunately this leaves us with the question of why Rei III lost any memories at all, unless it was simply a matter of short-term memory loss and/or trauma. Or the whole memory-loss thing could have been introduced by Anno to make Rei III's introduction more effective, since the scene in the h...

Rei backup and restore

This is something that has always confused me about the Rei III episode. She says that she cannot remember anything about her fight with Armisael, but she seems to remember Shinji, and by EOE she has developed a strong (and, in my opinion, unexplained) attachment to him. So my question is, w...

@Oedipusfoot: Is it a pitch accent sort of thing? If so, then my ears probably just don't hear it. Following what Reichu said, I hear the "ao" in "Kao" like the two vowel sounds in "Cow". This is going from the way Shinji (i.e. Megumi Ogata) says the name.

Things like saying Shinji's name right don't really matter in English because the cadence of English doesn't mix well with Japanese. If one tries to imitate saying Kaworu, Asuka or Misato's name the perceived 'Japanese way' it would only sound ridiculous in a sentence withou...

Long-time lurker finally showing my face. I've read enough to know what to expect and don't frighten easily. In addition to Evangelion, I'm a big fan of Mohiro Kitoh and SF in general.

Excuse me while I lurk some more.
