In which Anita thinks HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. - Death, Hogfather, by Terry Pratchett Maya met Anita and Gendo at Asuka’s apartment before they set off for Daisuke’s birthday party. Anita was surprised to see that she wasn’t holding a gift. She knew Gendo was callous, and was going to say th...

Hardly. A more useful set of directions, with slightly less demanding kayaking requirements, would have directed people to follow the Aleutian chain.

At the very least, Kensuke (along with 2I's anniversary!), Ritsuko, and Misato. Shinji and Maya may have been skipped too, but it's unlikely anyone else would, as the next earliest birthday, Aoba's, is in May. Kaji's birthday is in July and it's doubtful he was in Japan t...

A review, huzzah! Thanks for the compliments and the criticisms. There are definitely rough spots in this fic, and some of your advice I have been aware of and am still struggling with. As for the timer, I will note what I said privately elsewhere: It's an experiment. Maybe it works, maybe it do...

Re: Misato killed Kaji

Misato's reaction makes all the more sense if she is Kaji's murderer; finding his message on the answering machine is a final, bitter irony. Or she was just expecting such a message, and knew its arrival meant his death? One may also note that there is no scene in which Misato learns of Kaj...

In this thread, AchtungAffen suggested MS Mincho, and someone pointed out it was perhaps a bolded version of that font. I have no clue myself, though.

No, what Seele wants is for a theoretical live action series to keep to the GENERAL details of the story presented: Shinji et al should be Japanese, barring Asuka who should be German. It should take place in Tokyo-3, Eva-01 should be the new vessel for Yui's soul, the Angels shouldn't be ac...

Of all the problems in The Last Airbender, it wasn't that they changed the nationality of the main characters, it was that they got people who couldn't act to save their lives to play them. If they had gotten decent actors, they could have been from Mars for all I care. Actually, the proble...

I wasn't quite convinced it wasn't rust that was being misinterpreted as blood, and I got the sense that the thread was just as mixed. I actually don't believe that Shinji OR Asuka attempted and failed to commit suicide (and others agreed with me), and merely brought it up becau...

More importantly, the casting of voice actors isn't nearly the same as the casting of physical actors. With one, anyone capable of sounding right for the part can do it. With the other, skin tone is often taken into consideration. Honestly, I don't care too much if we have a lot of movies wi...

And the notion that Shinji isn't just as damaged as Asuka is laughable. This is the boy whose sense of self worth was so awful he couldn't even bring himself to commit suicide, remember? He's every bit as fucked up as she is. At that point in the series she was being heavily sedated bec...

I feel obliged to repeat the best explanation I've heard for Shinji's successes and Asuka's failures: When the shit hits the fan, Shinji wants help. Asuka, meanwhile, closes herself off and expects herself to be able to handle the problem. In the first half of the show, this isn't a ...

Why is this even an issue, again? Eva-02's behavior can be explained clearly and firmly, as Reichu has shown, without needing to resort to any theorizing about the number of horcruxes or whatever that are in Eva-02. Since we can do that, neither theory needs to address Asuka's poor behavior...
