Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
One common way of interpreting the final episodes is that they were occurring inside Shinji's mind at the same time as Third Impact in End of Evangelion, so those final episodes show Shinji coming to the realization that he has worth, which is turn is what led to his decision to stop Third Impact. ...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
Were you TRYING to make your experience as miserable as possible? Because only watching the most depressing and emotional part of the entire series movie is a good way to do that. End of Evangelion shows all of the characters at their lowest point, so only seeing that side of them and not knowing w...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
I don't mean to sound like a dick, but that might have played a substantial role in you having such a bad time with it; reading the synopsis that by nature focuses only on the more plot-relevant (and as such in Eva more negative) aspects, and then going straight to EoE is.... not a good idea, and a...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
Wait, so you didn't even watch the actual Neon Genesis Evangelion anime and just jumped straight into watching End of Evangelion? Yes. I only saw clips of the show and read the synopsis of it. I said before that there were things I didn’t understand. I doubt I’ll ever understand much. But I did rea...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
lThe difference between NGE ending and EoE ending isn't in the meaning, but in the time and effort required to learn to live. If you interpret them in this way you will see that the two endings are complementary and therefore both important, as well as yin and yang are both necessary for the Tao. I...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
ok what is it with yall constantly recommending retake first of all, why does Rei kill herself? im not reading it. just tell me second of all, why would you read a porno for closure on eva that kinda goes against the whole "straightforward psychological perspective on adolescent sexuality"...

Re: Stuff that you would like to see in Evangelion 3.0+1.0
The final entry doesn’t have to have a happy ending per se, just something that provides the audience a sense of relief and leaves several questions pondering inside their head. Ultimately, I believe the ending should be bittersweet and triumphant. My interpretation of the next movie is that the fou...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
Evangelion, especially EoE, hurts a lot if you feel like one of the characters. As help you, I can try to tell you somethings. But, I'm not really a good example. Evangelion, from drama to answers, are the result of Anno's thoughts and experiences. If you don't find answers or help in Evangelion, y...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
Yeah, I definitely agree to what Melkor is saying. It's an admirable effort that you try to face your demons head on, but for the sake of your own mental wellbeing it might just be the better idea to let it rest for a while, take your mind off it and focus on some other things that bring you joy in...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
Something that Eva did for me was make me understand my own AT field so to speak, the mental barriers I set up around myself; I unfortunately can't pinpoint at which point the realization hit me, but at some point, the idea behind it combined with the layered visuals AT fields have in the movies sn...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
That's what I usually do after finishing a heavy and emotional anime, by then finding a more light-hearted and fun anime to serve as a breather to balance things out. Maybe you just weren't mentally ready for End of Evangelion yet, because the scars of your trauma were still too fresh in your mind....

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
I've meant what Eva's world is, like, the ultimate unfair one. It is designed to put it's characters in the absolute worst scenario for their minds. To see them struggle and fail, and trying to adapt - it is fascinating to me, just like with many other good pieces of fiction. It's the same rules wh...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
It made me feel better knowing I wasn't the only one like this, and if I wasn't the only one, then that means there's a chance that I too can one day come out of it like others have. So keep that in mind. You are not alone. There are others out there who are like you and have gone through the same ...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
You have a problem with abandonment? Well, nobody will really show to you what they want you around, as a person. You are afraid of responsibility because you hurt someone due to your flaws before? They are gonna amp it up! You have to pilot a god. You are forced to kill your friends. Every second ...

End of Evangelion Traumatized Me (Revisited)
The first time I saw the movie End of Evangelion, I felt traumatized. The first clips of the movie I had the misfortune to come across were the hospital scene and the Third Impact. I’m still new to the whole Evangelion series, so there may be things I don’t understand. But what I do know is that aft...

Re: Final Scene of End of Evangelion questions
[ This post was originally made to an old "miscellaneous EoE questions" thread. It was not on topic there, so I've moved it here, where it is 100% on topic. -Reichu ] The first time I saw the movie End of Evangelion, I felt traumatized. The first clips of the movie I had the misfortune to ...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
In the immediate aftermath of watching EoE hard on the heels of watching the series, my self-directed therapy was in the form of writing fix-fics. Taking back control and nudging things to a better outcome would help draw some of the poison, and stop it controlling you. The hard part is I don’t wan...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
While reading Re-Take, I’ve also had an epiphany. I was mainly upset that the majority of Otaku’s considered End of Evangelion the true ending. I wondered if that really mattered to me considering how unfavorable I found the movie myself. I realized it didn’t. If there is anything I’ve learned from ...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
However, I generally advise against Retake for various reasons that aren't that important in this context, and for one that is: There's some pretty grimdark nasty stuff in there in the first half; if you're already not in a great place mentally, the two... infamous scenes might just hit you in the ...

Re: End of Evangelion Traumatized Me
I’ve just started reading the fan comic known as Evangelion Re-take. In my opinion, it succeeded where End of Evangelion has originally failed. And it’s amazing, truly, as well as wholesome. It’s also a thought provoked as well. To those of you who feel affected by the movie as I do, I highly recomm...
