Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
I think that the extended episodes are Anno’s preferred edition anyway In original Japanese LD and DVD edition, we didn't have aired version but *only* the home video version. The reason is simple: even today, every anime is finalized and readjusted for the home video edition, that is the original ...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
"Nèo-" means "nuovo", it's the same information that gets conveyed (= a New Tokyo). In Italian, "neo" means this thing https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo In AKIRA Japanese script we've "NeoTokyo": ネオ 東京 = NEO TOKYO (it must reamin "Neo Tokyo" in a fo...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
Localization is quite a complex thing. For example using "Nuova Tokyo 3", even if it's a literal translation, would sound very early '900 instead of sci-fi to most people. Literal translations of city names was a thing in the '20s during fascism, and it's now considered ancient. "Neo...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
Most of the items you mention aren't actually wrong. The official English/international terminology for many of the proper nouns (including the name of the show itself!) intentionally does not match up with the original Japanese. You can see several examples of these flash on the screen in the open...

Re: [NEWS] Neon Genesis Evangelion coming to Netflix Spring 2019
There's a difference between "nostalgia" and "nostalgia of something that was objectively great". Italian Evangelion's dub is *not* objectively great. It's *just* subjectively great for Italian dubs situation as it was 20 years ago ^_^ It was the best one if compared to the othe...

Re: no more Renewal!
Original video release did not have the same care and attention from the staff. False. As you know, Japanese home video releases were suspended for the movie production. Episodes 21-24 onair edition were refused for the hv by the staff because they were rushed . They give to these home video editio...

no more Renewal!
@TMBounty_Hunter: yes, you're right. LD used analog video. I got mixed up ;) Those are analog sourced DVDs. They didn't go back and rescan the film until Renewal. What that I contest is how they did that to Evangelion with the Renewal/Platinum. They deliberately increased the color satur...

Re: no more Renewal/Platinum ^^'
That atmosphere you're talking about is just shitty analog storage mediums like VHS. Nope. I'm talking about the video of the original DVD Japanese release in super jewel box, this one: [url]http://blogs.c.yimg.jp/res/blog-8f-d6/onapan2001/folder/462399/97/26303797/img_0?1194118359 [url]htt...

Eva tv original aspect ratio was 4:3 (1,33:1) and this must be on BD too (if you bought Twin Peaks Enitre Mystery BDs, you've found a perfect example of how an original 4:3 aspect ratio video must be on BD; you can't avoid pillar on the sides. Crop is bad!) Theatrical Edition...
