Are the On-Air episodes needed to be watched over the DC?

I've finally got up to the last remaning episodes and I've already seen the first of the Director's Cut which I noticed it's longer than the On-Air so it means it has more content and its story is better told, but should I also watch the On-Air episodes?

svenge @ could you tell me more about the German 8-Disc release?

Supposedly the bitrate's higher and in an overall aspect it's better than the other releases out there but I've not been able to check it out myself.

Bootleg definitely. I've got a spare Vol. 4 and Vol. 5 (UK edition) which I could sell them to you but you'd still be stuck on getting the rest due to sellers demanding too much for just one volume. P.S.: Take a look at this link and see how much Evangelion Platinum used to cost five...

No. The opening song itself is what makes the series so memorable even from childhood to 20/30 years later you'll still be able to recognise it, I sure know because it happened to me. While the score may be somewhat limited at times I can't help but listen a couple of times to A Cruel Angel&...

Did you know "decisive battle" was actually inspired by a score from James Bonds Goldfinger? I've been getting that vibe. That's how a lot of anime works; you'll have several select themes that you break out every now and then when there's an event of a specific kind happe...

I heard the song as a kid and saw some footage (BIG ROBOTS BRAWLING! ARGH!) so from there on I loved the little I saw and now I've got the Platinum Collection as well as 2 OST CDs.

Granted, there's much more to Evangelion than just mecha fights.

Evangelion's TV series' music feels too repetitive

Let me put this out firstly; I love the soundtrack of Neon Genesis Evangelion but each and every episode just reuse the same BGMs over and over again, and while this hasn't annoyed me to the point of stop watching I wish they would have had variety.

It was on eBay for $80 (luckily though I was refunded on this purchase) Wow, that's a lot for a bootleg or a high quality one at that. Five years ago the Platinum Collection in UK was extremely cheap (including the tin-edition too), like £11 now it's gone up to £150. Good lo...

Where can I buy this bootleg? I'm curious as to how much it costs.

ADV's masters for the 1st DVD release were pretty bad looking in their native NTSC format, but I can only shudder at how bad it would be after going through a NTSC-to-PAL conversion using late '90s equipment... Eesh, it's absolutely garbage I didn't even manage to watch the entire e...

Great. More OOP media (for when I get high quality media players) that will cost a bunch of dollars. Sigh lol. Blu-ray is far superior to DVD, not only is the disc's more resistant but also allows up to 50GB of data in it. Personally, I'm very happy with the Platinum DVD release but...

Why was the fourth film retitled as "3.0+1.0"?

It's a rather weird title because 4.0 would have been clean and simple whereas 3.0+1.0 seems somewhat of a mess.

Which are the best Evangelion games?

The kind of Evangelion game that I'm looking for is like in the series, that is, robots battling the crap out of each other until one's defeated. I've tried the following games: 1) Zone of the Enders [PS2] 2) War of the Monsters [PS2] 3) Tech Romancer [DC] 4) Gundam Break...

Hi everyone! :D First post here. I'm wondering if the difference in video quality between the Platinum (singles+ box) and the Platinum Complete box set is actually a big deal? Is there jitter involved? bad colors? Is the image really that big of a difference so that I would have to get ...

Platinum UK 7-Disc Box set -- Is there a way to acquire one?

I've got all 7 Platinum DVDs of Evangelion but I'm missing the outer box and without it, it kind of looks incomplete sadly so I'm here to ask if anyone would know of a way to purchase one or to make? By 'make' I meant (probably) that someone would scan their outer box ...

Precisely but that response is more than enough. Thank you.

I live in UK and the R2 Platinum Collection is more suitable to me because I can watch it on my 360/PS3 whereas the R1 PC couldn't.

I guess I'll be fine with a slightly inferior picture quality than the US PC release.

Platinum Vs. Renewal Screenshots

Hi, I have 01 TEST-TYPE R2J DVD which is cool to own for the superb 5.1 audio and picture quality but I'm wondering how the US/UK Platinum Collection quality looks like? Comparison of Perfect Collection Vs. Renewal (01 TEST-TYPE) http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/57975/picture:0...
