Re: Star Wars
You can <cough> <cough> say <hack> <hack> <cough> that <sneeze> <snort> again. Cough into your elbows, bastards. Film was alright. Just alright. My only geeky query is: when the hell was Luke's light-saber retrieved after daddy chopped off his hand? I like the green saber, damn it, use that one ins...

Sexuality is like an ice cream shop. I respect your right to stick to one flavor, but where's the fun in that?

Re: Celebrity RIP Thread
Wow, ok. I figured the death of David Bowie might have bought us some cosmic leniency in terms of beloved celebrity deaths. Apparently not.
Rest in peace, Alan Rickman. The Harry Potter movies would have been sorely worse off with anyone else playing Snape.

So do we know why Threepio has a red arm? Did I miss some exposition during those four minutes I was in the loo?

Re: Star Wars
You should see it if you get a few loose hours, Tines (and anybody else who hasn't seen it.) Watching the prequels is not at all a requirement to get the full experience. In fact, to my memory there's not a single plot element that relies on them. At worst, it's still just plain old good entertainme...

Re: Star Wars
I'm starting to warm up to Kylo Ren a bit. He's certainly a different kind of villain. So far, every Sith we've seen was several levels ahead of your average Jedi master. Dooku was trained by the great Yoda himself. Grievous wielded four sabers and massacred a billion Jedi, all while battling a terr...

Re: Fantastic Beasts and where to find them
Oh man, I can't wait. I had the little booklet 10-ish years ago. It ranked all the creatures' dangerousness on a scale from one to five. I look forward to seeing how they portray the Quintaped, which was one of the very few fives on the danger scale. And it never even appeared in any of the movies.

Re: Star Wars
I have a feeling the writers just rolled their eyes and said, "Alright we've alreay spent Empire and Clone Wars training up two seperate young Jedi. Let's just cut to the chase and make her an unreasonably quick learner. Then in episode 8 we'll have Luke tell her she's just crazy strong in the ...

Re: Star Wars
^ I like my action to be compelling beyond the simple flashiness and the pretty explosions. Like a powerful exchange of dialogue while too people fight, or a secondary character (alright maybe I misspoke earlier) like Wedge Antilles, who seems to be a way better pilot than any of the main characters...

Re: Star Wars
@Bagheera: I think you undersell SW's space battle. It does a very good job of making you feel invested in it, or at least it did to me. Garven Dreis, Biggs Darklighter, Wedge Antilles, Dutch, they all get less than three good lines of dialogue (except Dreis) but everything is so tight and significa...

Re: Star Wars
I don't feel like saying anything particular. it was an ok movie, the production values were good and in particularities it was pretty good (should be, with a budget like that), but i fear it revitalized my distaste for Hollywood. We simply want very different things out of film, and i feel they ar...

Re: Star Wars
I just care about two things in a Star Wars movie: Lightsaber battles and dogfights. I could really care less about story or characters. People demonize the prequels as an affront to both, but honestly, the original series had shit for story and worse for characters. What both the OT and prequels di...

Re: Star Wars
I just saw it and I'm absolutely speechless. Except for literally the last fifteen seconds, I don't think a more disappointing movie could have been made. I didn't think Clone Wars would ever be knocked off its rotten throne. Credit where credit is due, I liked Poe Dameron, but then again I've a...

Re: Kingdom Hearts
The battle music in the trailer is a (perhaps slightly remixed) version of Rage Awakened, which is the music that plays during Terra's final battle in Birth By Sleep. I don't want to spoil anything for those of you who are still planning to play BBS at the last minute, but this leads me to believe t...

I would like to take a moment to bemoan how very fond the ally AI seems to be of running ahead and getting into fights when I'm just trying to have a nice slow loot-crawl.
There. Moment deployed. Now back to injecting .45 rounds into eye sockets.

Re: Fallout
Quite unexpectedly, my character is now head-over-heels gay for Piper. It's just so adorable how flustered she gets when I flirt at her.
Of course, that won't stop me from flirting with absolutely everybody who has something I want. This level 10 Charisma ain't going to waste.

I regret not getting the PC version now. A simple mod that changes all instances of the word "Synth" to "Cylon" would have made this game of the year.

Re: Fallout
Unable to reconcile the tonal disparity between my character and his cripplingly yucky backstory, I've chosen to start over anew. Her name is Roxanne, with dirty blonde hair and birthmarks that mar an otherwise attractive face. She has high charisma and intellegence, but everything else except perce...

Re: Fallout
I appreciate the simple elegance with which FO4 implemented radiation sickness. Whenever another red pixel creeps onto my health bar, I'm struck with a sense of dread. The good kind of dread, that you want to feel in a post-apocalyptic game. Back in FO3 radiation sickness was meaningless. Oh no, my ...
