Given how NERV was constantly harassing WILLE with the Nemesis series, I just assumed that they had copious automated defences stowed away, just not active at the moment. Besides, something like a direct assault on NERV HQ would be a significant military operation, and require quite a big of prepara...

An Impact doesn't seem to last beyond the exit/death of the pilot, though, except maybe through Lilith Interference.
And since Lilith had to die just to set this impact up, it doesn't seem like the a minute or five that it lasted could've been all that destructive.

And also because of the fact that Rei Q is so mentally underdeveloped, that she might as well be considered around five years old.

Lets face it, Shinji has no options left that aren't really weird in some way.

To be fair, I think that Mako is mostly talking about how she embraces that childish side, and always has.
She certainly doesn't seem to care for any "adults" getting up in her business.

Shinji could probably make himself useful through his culinary skills, who knows, he might even be able to resolve the plot that way. Besides, WILLE is desperately short on personnel. Scrawny fourteen-year old or not, every extra pair of arms is useful to them. Also, on a more topical note, it's...

@ElMariachi Honestly though, whether or not Shinji was the actual cause for all the destruction seen is pretty much irrelevant to my arguments, though. The important part is that his desire started the apocalypse and he didn't even realize that. My point is that if Shinji had paid more attentio...

Shinji isn't being punished for trying to trying to save his friend, or a failure to listen to authority. His crime is one borne of neglect. His attempt to save Rei is genuinely heroic in nature and it's not so much that Shinji made a calculated decision that sacrificing the world for Rei wa...

Putting aside this inane bickering for a minute, does the narrative really support the notion that Shinji is really to be considered a "kid" at this point? Because as far as I can tell, the part where Shinji decided to head back into the Eva is supposed to represent a turning point in his ...

That doesn't matter, though. The only things that matter are the things that are shown to us through the film. If they found it important to Asuka's character to retain those elements, they would've shown them to us, but since they didn't, we can safely conclude that they're no l...

Hm. Maybe "subservient" is a better way to put it, though the relationship between Asuka and her doll is an odd one. Sure, Asuka's name being on the doll probably means that, well, it's her doll. Her parents were probably rich (she's has a LOT of stuff) so getting a do...

Yeah, that's pretty much what I said before. It's all a sort of challenge to the audience. You can go with the flow, and relate entirely to Shinji, assuming the same position that he does against WILLE, until the veil is stripped away and it turns out that Shinji messed up really bad in pull...

An army? Oh please. These guys are primarily civilians made to live in hell for the last fourteen years while civilization has crumbled entirely. They're not really suited for the army life. And much of the new crew strikes me as rather young, too. They're like what, twenty-four years old? T...

FTFY. I'm not really convinced that it's fuelled by chauvinistic ideals so much as her desperate desire to be validated acting up. It's painfully obvious that to her, the prospect of romance exists in a large part for her to cope with her own personal insecurities, and to do that, her v...

Honestly though, I'd say that by far the most interesting aspect of this whole character judgement shtick is just how the entire film is constructed. From start to finish, it's just entirely focused on Shinji, much more so than even the previous two films, and we see all the events unfold di...

Well, it happens immediately after Kaworu is kicked out of the controls, so I was just under the impression that it's supposed to represent "danger", rather than the Evangelion taking control. What would be the point of it taking control now, anyhow? Shinji was going through the motion...

I find it unlikely that Shinji somehow received information about the Eva's function. He basically merged with it, and he did those things because he was suddenly capable of them. Do you need to be told how to move your arm? How does withstanding your skin being flayed off to rescue someone reg...

Honestly though, I think that the argument that we couldn't expect Shinji to recognize the consequences falls flat when used in either direction, because we just don't know anything about what Shinji could plausibly understand. After his Awakening, Shinji suddenly had enough understanding of...

Honestly, at this point I'm pretty sure that no-one here is really communicating on the same level, and that all we end up doing is re-enacting Evangelion's communication failures in real life. Now granted, that is inherently hilarious, but ultimately, we're just not accomplishing anythi...

That's why the words that everyone finds love in the end, are bullshit to me. Especially in context of Evangelion. Counterpoint*: http://i.imgur.com/mJhRXQR.png Evangelion was all about finding love, no matter what happens. That's the big realization Shinji had in End of Evangelion, which h...
