Obviously there is or was at some point. If nothing else, how does one reconcile the two pieces not being complimentary with them being part of a single home video release? :ehh:

Oh well. Why simple when you can have it complicated. -o-;

Why the mention of "EoTV" (how is that even a term?) in particular, separating it from the movie? Is there a point in separating those two?

This was always part of the game, pretty much part of the normal storyline. Once you played through it, it would be accessible through the main menu.

Clever. Thanks for that. It doesn't look like it would make much of a difference to the viewer (and only if played on a relatively big screen anyway), but it's still nice to know what's there. I'm relatively confident that they did what they could with the material.

My project is this so far Why temper with an otherwise nice and clean Blu-ray set? I would assume that newly produced subtitles - new translation and all - are all but inevitable on an upcoming US box. I'm sure distributors in the West aren't entirely oblivious of the demand and that it'...

What would I go with? Maybe something that would fit visually with the computer displays in the anime like the Magi or Dummy Plug interface. But no, it's alright. As I said: it goes with the box art so I'm fine with it. It's just not very typically Eva. For now I'm just a happy campe...

That was just my point. The Blu-ray menu doesn't really go with that Evangelion "look" we're used to. Yes yes, I'm aware of the underwater imagery in Eva, but I'm speaking of overall design here.

It's not necessarily the image, but rather the general design of it all. Also the fact that it's in English. You'd expect something a little louder with a whole lot of Kanji and whatnot. Nowhere is the anime as tranquil as that menu. :lol: I mean they were advertising the whole thing wit...

Damn. I was looking forward to some nice clean 1080p scripts to replace the ones from the DVDs. I know I have the storyboard books, but they're barely readable and generally a pain to scan and work with. Now wait a moment... I might have been a bit hasty there. It seems the Blu-rays indeed DO h...

I agree with TMBounty_Hunter . With the DVDs we had a nice product, but it was clear that the footage had to be relatively compressed and all. With this new release though, I'd say we can be pretty sure that we have in our hands the best that Evangelion will look at this point. The raw material ...

For one the DVD screenshot had to be stretched to fit the Blu-ray's dimensions. Also, there seems to be just a tad more image information on the sides of the Blu-ray picture. Ratios are the same. For those who might be wondering: it appears that the Reiquarium shots are not on the Blu-ray (a...

I'm in the middle of re-watching The X-Files, this time including Millennium and The Lone Gunmen - which I've never seen before. It's been great so far, although, Jesus Christ, "Millenium" is such a depressing drag. I'm really just watching it since there's going to be ...

Bagheera: There's quite a difference in brightness between the first two and lower four, but the Blu-rays aren't aren't exactly brighter than Renewal (the third from the top).

Note that the titles of the pictures are above them, not below.

Looks like the quality of the DVD box is worse than that of the previous release, but I guess that has to do with what was used as source material. Take a look at this one. There's quite a bit of cel shadow around Asuka which makes the picture look almost three-dimensional.
