Re: Last Movie You Watched

Terminator Dark Fate It was awesome. Linda was excellent as Sarah once again and was fierce as ever. The Rev9 was terrifying in the same way that Arnold was in Terminator (1984) and the T-1000 in Terminator 2. The new story, I felt, was perfectly justified. And it was a very intense thrill ride tha...

Re: Asuka isn't Justified

I do think that interpreting the show in a way that concludes that Shinji would be happy and healthy with anybody in the emotional and psychological states as depicted in the show ignores the troubles of the characters that the show actively tries to revisit and explore. It could work, potentially ...

Your personal preferences also don't affect factual matters like which dub is more accurate, which is important information that is not going to be suppressed here. Comments like "this stupid purist mentality" are an actual direct attack on others vented in full public view. Frustration i...

Re: [Film] The Trailers & Upcoming Films Thread

COWBOY BEBOP the Live Action Series is, at best, going to be okay. It will not come close to even being in the same realm as the anime series.... But Ein guarantees I'll watch a couple episodes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4gPQDyOixQ I have my reservations about the live adaptation, but that w...

Re: Netflix Release General Discussion

My original ramble way before all this translation stuff was just about how I disliked the dub, and how the dialogue for it was written differently compared to the ADV Dub (and also how I hated how boring the actors/actresses played the characters. :| ) Apparently we're not allowed to make that arg...

Re: How Fuyutsuki made Rei

Nerco posting. What fascinating thing the internet is... But, I think it was more about Yui using Gendo and Fiyutski for her own manipulations. Yes, Fiyutski was aware of he realm, but I'm sure Gendo was too.

Re: The Curse of Eva - Can It Be Broken?

This is too involved to really get into here (I have a thread planned, I swear!), but this whole dichotomy between past and future, sin and purity, curses and wishes/hopes, etc., makes me expect that, if this plan is brought to completion, then the pilots will be freed of the 'curse' as part of it....

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Here recently, I've seen: Suspiria (2018) It was very different from Argento's version form the 70s. While not a supernatural-based neo noir Giallo slasher film, this version ditched the overly stylized elements (this is not a knock against them, they are still wonderfully over the top and beautiful...

Okay, what if there's another time skip and suddenly see them as adults though?

The Curse of Eva - Can It Be Broken?

What if at some point in 3.0 + 1.0 we see the "curse of Eva" effectively broken and suddenly the tory crops up with an adult Asuka and adult Mari (and possibly Rei and Kaworu as well) to exemplify Shinji as the only real child left in the story? It could even work thematically as part of h...

That all sounds really cool. Wish I was a good enough artist to render it...But I also forgot to mention that this image reminds me of the classic cover for Akira.

Still, it could be worse. This is the dub that happened because Khara was so hands on, right? Imagine if Netflix had the leeway to 'localize' it in whatever way they wanted.

That's true...I shudder to think how much worse it could get...

Cool! Glad you're looking forward to it! Looking forward to get going! Saw this image today on reddit, reminded me of your ideas and what it is you're looking to do with Misato: https://www.reddit.com/r/evangelion/comments/d28v22/_/ I imagine that, somehow, in this context it's post-EoE and Misato ...

Re: Stuff that you would like to see in Evangelion 3.0+1.0

Some variation on (b) is far more likely. Fuyutsuki has told us that Gendo will go as far as sacrificing his soul to bring his wish to fruition. We're not told what this wish is, but it's been forecast that he will sacrifice himself to make Eva-13 a counterpart to Eva-01. The likely outcome here is...

I've been hooked to it since then and I'm watching it again in the ADV 1997 Dub version, it's a little cheesy but in a good way. :D Hey, congrats on discovering Eva! And good on you for watching the ADV dub, it really gets better as it goes along and the VAs get more acclimated to the characters, e...

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion

Not the worst dub I've heard but given some of the quality of recent dubs, i was disappointed by what netflix did with the Eva dub. Yeah, these things I miss from EoE are: "Gloop!" when Misato kills that solider. "I'm so fucked up" in the hospital scene and (this one is sorely m...

The main underlying commentary in the first two was that new/future technology is unknown and therefore scary and potentially dangerous. That's inaccurate. The real commentary underlying the first two actually had more to do with anxieties stemming from the Regan Era politics of the Cold War and nu...

Re: Tim Miller's Terminator: Dark Fate (2019)

They need to focus the movies and start making them legitimately about time travel and explore it as a science fiction concept. They legit did that with Geinsys by leaning heavily on time travel stuff as part of the bigger story they were telling and it just ended up being a convoluted mess. If any...
