Re: Favorite crazy Evangelion theories

One theory I heard a lot when everyone commented on the looping of time in Rebuilding was that Adam on the Moon was the Eva 01 of the previous timeline. After the EoE-like event of the earlier timeline of this continuum, Eva 01, without propulsion, would have been drawn to lunar gravity and would fa...

Re: What's up with Gendo's invitation letter to Shinji?

After the incident with Eva 00 Gendo had to call Shinji and probably did not even remember how to contact his guardian. Then he accessed a forgotten file of the son, printed what he wanted and was going to throw away the rest. Fuyutsuki must have mentioned that Gendo should, at least, write a letter...

Re: What would Evangelion be without Shinji?

Shinji has always been a punching bag and a sin-eater for the stories of Hideaki Anno. For me, there are many kinds of suffering in life: there is the suffering you seek, there is the suffering that seeks you, there is the suffering that makes you stronger and the suffering that is just useless mise...

Re: What would Evangelion be without Shinji?

So I guess the only world without Shinji is a world without Angels, Adam, Lilith, Nerv, and Seele That would depend more on Gendo and Seele than on Shinji. They are the cause of the Second Impact, the War of the Angels, and the Third Impact to achieve Instrumentality. That scenario with Asuka, Rei ...

Re: The seven deadly sins of Evangelion

Shinji hits every one of the seven deadly sins at some point in the show. Pride? Episodes 3 (disobeying Misato’s orders) and 16. (“You are number one!” “Battle is a man’s job!”) Lust? Episodes 5 (Rei dressing), 8 (Asuka undressing), 9 (Asuka sleeping), 20 (“Become one with me”), and EoE (“I know ab...

Re: Was Yui nearly as bad as Gendo?

I doubt I'll ever be able to find a character I deem as evil as I see Gendo. Initially, I believed Yui was "defective" because she had "too much kindness for a Eva character", but then I realized that this impression was because of the unreliable narrator that we have about her. ...

Re: Personal Status After Rebuild

That depends on what happens in the last movie.
If it is as I imagine, I will no longer be a Eva fan, I will be a Eva victim. And my status will be jailed if I can get my hands on Anno.
If I'm wrong ... I can not even imagine this scenario!

Re: Did Anno Seek to Undermine Rei with Rebuild?

there was some talk of the final film coming out almost simultaneously with it - but as we know, that didn't happen... He also did something similar with EoE which are two episodes in one movie. Anno had a deep depression making a single film, two would probably be more than even he could bear, so ...

Re: Rebuild's Strongest Aspect(s)

The technical part: animation, coloring, CGI use, camera positioning technique and the choreography of the fights are spectacular, but the story itself no longer touches me and is beyond my ability to immersion and voluntary suspension of disbelief.

My God! Of course not! I'm another guy, can not you see by the way of writing? My english is not very good and sometimes I get bogged down in grammar when I write a lot!
P.S.: Do you think Stillborn is the only person who found EoE a nihilistic story?

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

And doesn't even get into the absurdity of suggesting Rei and Yui would let him choose life just to be doomed to starve to death. Choosing to live also means accepting to die. Starving and thirsty is not my first choice for how to die (I would rather die in my sleep!), but no one chooses how will d...

Re: Grand unifying theory of Evangelion: Gendo the Janitor

@one-eyed: Your ideas about Gendo seem like they're formulated exclusively from Sadamoto's cartoonishly villainous version (this post is quite the dead giveaway) rather than the subtler and more ambiguous Anno one, so I have no basis to think you have mental partitions between manga and anime actua...

Re: Grand unifying theory of Evangelion: Gendo the Janitor

Hey! I was specific! I said it was in the manga! I know canonicity is a serious matter here! I deduced that he had some scientific knowledge because Seele had been trying for years to solve his Equation/Formula of Instrumentality and failed continually, perhaps they were failing to this day and for ...

Re: What do you think Gendo was like at Shinji's age?

Did not you see any sociopathic tendencies in Gendo? You're kidding, right? I think Gendo was polar opposite of Shinji in youth. At the time that Yui was still alive and he was supposedly happy, he seemed like to provoke others. He had a nasty smile, cynical and mocking in the face as if he were mak...

Re: Grand unifying theory of Evangelion: Gendo the Janitor

In the manga, the chapter 32 mentions that Gendo was a bioengineer, but he was probably a average or even mediocre scientist. To formulate a theory as the Theory of Relativity would require the genius of an Einstein, but to use it and understand it even a average scientist could be successful with a...

Re: Introduction, Toxicity of AsuShin and other things

Hope will lead you everywhere. How can you go on in your darkest moments without hope? It depends on your interpretation. Many would say that Hope is the mother of despair. When the gods wanted to destroy someone first gave him 40 years of prosperity to fall to be more painful. Shinji had to keep l...

Re: What do you think Gendo was like at Shinji's age?

Realistically, Gendo at Shinji's age probably killed small animals like pigeons, chickens, etc. in strange rituals and ceremonies which he himself invented with improvised altars, and already began to practice with the dogs and cats of the neighborhood in the expectation of preparing for the phase w...

Re: If Mari and Asuka are/were Gay. . .

Personally, I'm totally indifferent. If there is something, I will not care. If there is nothing, I will not mind either. Now if we are in the world of speculation I would infinitely prefer Marisaku (Mari X Sakura) instead of Marisuka. With the little bit of information we have anything can be possi...

Re: Why I Don't Like Mari

As much as I enjoy Mari (I like her more than Asuka!), I'm only really going to know if she really fits this story in the hypothetical fourth movie. Until then, I consider her a great potential character inserted bizarrely in the narrative. She stands out as a ornitorrico cyborg mutant ninja in a we...
