Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

if it is actually some Gaelic phrase, and not a coinage for the series, guessing the actual spelling will be a fun game I found this: 'In the English adaptation, Chise is referred to as a "sleigh beggy" instead of a "surei bega". This in itself is a slight Cultural Translation, ...

Yes? As I recall he has far more character in the original, which since you ask I presume (to my surprise) you haven't seen.

Or is it just the one?

A second one spoke in a recent episode.

Re: Rebuild is shallow tangent

The narrative purpose of a reboot is to replace an original work of art, hence it should be compared to the work it's replacing. Or maybe it's meant to stand alongside it, not replace it - in which case you're still free to compare them and have your own opinion about which you prefer. But remember...

Re: Rebuild is shallow tangent

When you make a story which is retelling a story that's already been told, that story you're making is going to be compared to the original one. And when the comparison shows that the stories are not as similar as you initially thought, then making a big deal of it at that level starts to look misc...

Strangling - restricting the throat - could also be seen as a direct way to prevent that nickname being uttered.

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender says, “You’re in here a lot, are you an alcoholic?” The horse ponders for a minute and responds “I don’t think I am”. And poof he disappears... This is where philosophy students start to snicker, as they are familiar with Descartes postulate, “I think, therefo...

So what have I been watching of late...? Well, between seasons I rewatched EscaFlowne , which is always a pleasure; and while I was away I had lots of flights to fill, so I rewatched Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash . I enjoyed it every bit as much as I did first time round. This season has the anticipate...

Warning! Crunchyroll DNS attack

The Crunchyroll website has been redirected by a DNS compromise similar to the one that affected ANN earlier this year. Visiting the Crunchyroll website you will be taken to a fake site offering a new client to download, which is in fact a trojan. https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2017-11-04/cru...

Re: Oh The Horror!

I have to ask, why watch these movies in the first place? What would be the point in purposely inducing fear? There is typically a frisson which people often find pleasurable. But more specifically, it provides an opportunity for training ourselves to handle fear while ensconced in a known safe env...

At the end of my fic Misato and Kaji are running the organisation ("Hoffnung") that is reconstructing the world, and Asuka has a prominent role in it; however, Shinji has chosen to become a teacher in a remote community, somewhat as a penance. But having set this up, that's the end of my s...
