Re: Forum Wackiness

Two of the three people Robersora named I communicate with from time to time; certainly neither would want to attack the forum in this way, and I doubt either would know how. As for whether it's a directed attack or a chance one, I'll keep an open mind - it makes no difference to the effect. Tracing...

Re: Forum Wackiness

There have been a couple of outages in the last day or so. These are the effect of another DDoS attack. This time the server is not being harmed, following the improvements made by Ornette as a result of the previous attack; the outages are simply caused by the swamping of the network at the server....

Re: Netflix Release General Discussion

It came up in the Evangelion part of the Discord on 27th June 2019. There was a quote (from a now-deleted tweet) which said: " I think the word as used in the script refers to a religious sect and is intended to evoke Aum Shinrikyo." Then there was a discussion which seemed to hover round ...

Re: Netflix Release General Discussion

It did previously; it showed the frame where the Netflix subs say the terrorist attack was by leftwingers. The question is whether the use of that term has any basis. I've seen it discussed, but can't find it in the forum - so maybe in Discord?

Re: Looking for a fan-made cut of End of Eva

You could try going to your favourite site for acquiring fanmade videos and search for "evangelion concurrency". It's not for me to say what you might find, of course.

There's also this thread, and others.

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Nothing new in the starting season has caught my fancy yet. But I am intrigued by one of last season's shows which is continuing - Mugen no Juunin - Immortal which I shall probably start catching up on later today.

I will also continue with MHA, of course.

Re: Top anime of the 2010s

As retreads go, I agree that the new Kino's Journey was completely pathetic; it shouldn't have been made, because now people will come across it and be put off before they discover the excellent original. The extension of Mushishi was fine, but for me it didn't advance the series or add anything new...

Re: Top anime of the 2010s

A couple of people have mentioned Princess Kaguya, but I have to say it left me cold. The film that I preferred from around the same time was A Silent Voice - though I suppose that living with a deaf partner predisposed me towards it.

Re: Top anime of the 2010s

I enjoyed both Erased and Bunny Drop (and I bought Bunny Drop on DVD) - but although I'd recommend them as worth watching, I didn't feel either was really in the "best of" league. Others I'd place at the same level as those two are Kids on the Slope (which I also bought) and Orange (bought...

Read Bagheera's Ghosts of Evangelion for a thoughtful post-EoE account of their lives together.

Re: Top anime of the 2010s

OK, so after going out for dinner I feel a bit more mellow. Here's a list - but if I were to make it tomorrow I don't know how many entries would stay the same. Order is roughly chronological: Mawaru Penguindrum Madoka Magica Monogatari series - if that's too broad, then the Kizumonogatari films can...

Re: Gainax President Arrested on “Semi-Compulsory Obscenity” Charges, Taking Nude Pictures of Teen Voice Actress

At least, we can be sure Aoi Uru won't ever happen, as Gunbuster (thankfully) won't happen. Both Gaina and Gainax Kyoto are taking pains to make it clear that they are completely dissociated with Gainax. Currently I think it is Gaina who claim to be on the road to produce Blue Uru and Gunbuster 3 -...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Kono oto Tomare! has ended, for now. Much of it was a little frustrating, because in a story about playing musical instruments (specifically, the Koto), we were not often given much chance to hear what it sounded like! But the penultimate episode gave us a whole piece, pretty much. I also found an ...

Re: Top anime of the 2010s

A whole decade must cover a good third of all the anime I've seen, so it doesn't feel focussed at all. Anyway, I have favourites for different moods, so writing them down would be rather a waste of time (unless I'm in the mood, which I'm not today).

Re: Avatar: The Last Airbender (WTF is your avatar/sig from?)

My last avatar has been one of my longest-lasting, because I've liked it so much (and others have commented similarly). But I feel like a change, and also (not least for the difficulty in following the last) like one of my occasional non-Shinji avatars. So here we have Utsuo Akagi, the protagonist o...
