Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II
I think Victory is my pick for the worst Gundam series. OG Build Divers got pretty close at times, but even that had an episode or two I actively liked. Victory has nothing.

Re: Possibilities and theories for NTE
Example: Curse of Eva->Characters who are immature literally don't grow up. That tells me much more about the characters and the film's intent than any scifi explanation I could muster up now. Whatever the "symbolic" explanation there's clearly a science fiction explanation for why they'r...

Re: A New Official Happy Birthday Thread
Thanks, I appreciate it.
I've had some kind of nasty ear infection for the past few days so I'm afraid I won't have a particularly great birthday this year lol.

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II
I might not commit to this fully if I think it out more, but I think I'd honestly say even despite how overtly goofy and silly it is even G Gundam is more pessimistic about humanity than Gundam X is. Depending on how cynically you read the "See You Next Gundam Fight" in the final episode a...

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II
X has a dark backstory but honestly the show itself is probably one of the more optimistic Gundams. That actually kind of threw me off about it at first, because I went in expecting some post-apocalyptic "Fallout 3/Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome/whatever with Gundams" type of thing and instead...

Just watch whatever sounds interesting to you. If you want to watch Wing, watch Wing. If you want to watch Turn A, watch Turn A. If you want to watch something else, watch something else. Life's too short to faffle about in uncertainty forever.

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II
I want to get into Gundam. I really do. But I have to ask one thing: is it true that Tomino is a blatant mysogynist? I think its more noticeable in some of his stuff outside of Gundam where there's less plausible deniability. Like The Wings of Rean lets you know a woman is evil by having her threat...

Re: Fire Emblem Franchise
I didn't really have a problem with the story itself of the Black Eagles route, more that the social sim elements, exploring the Monastery and being a professor etc. just really dragged the game out even compared to the 3DS games (Which I thought all had a much better balance about this sort of thin...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
From the backlog, I did finish Fate/kaleid liner Prisma☆Illya 2wei Herz , which was definitely not as good as the previous season, and shall have to go rummaging for unwatched old stuff again. I watched through these Prisma Illyas last year and if I'm remembering what happened in it right I do thin...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
Higurashi Gou 16 sure was a gut wrenching experience! Seriously after episodes and episodes of playing a lot of the violence for more or less black comedy, getting something that brutal uh sure was a thing . Like this was probably the first time I was actually sold on how horrifying the Watanagashi ...

Re: Shin Eva's Indefinite Delay Support Group
There's likely hundreds of cases of filmmakers revisiting their old works again through years of experiences. My favorite example of this is the weirdness with A Star is Born. The original 1937 version was (Arguably) a ripoff of the 1932 film What Prince Hollywood? that George Cukor directed, but t...

Re: Last Movie You Watched
I don't do streaming services and I don't go to the theater that much anymore (duh), so I'm pretty sure that makes Sonic the Hedgehog the best movie from 2020 I've seen so far. Man, I hope this year gets better soon.... :uhh: That's a shame you don't do streaming, because Da 5 Bloods was prob...

Or when said character said "Womens must be pure for the sacrifice" Eeeeew. I know it how some religions and even less extremes religious rituals traditions work "EX : no sexe before mariage" and I know it was not necessary about the virgin purety, but with how this scene was ha...

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II
Victory is more boring than anything else. Like there's a lot of stuff that sounds crazy on paper like the Bikini Death Squad or whatever but its mostly just kind of a tedious slog of a series.

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
The point pretty clearly was not only about Rika's increasing despair, but that the loops are getting increasingly incomprehensible and hard for her to predict the causes and outcomes of.
It was probably the single best episode of this show so far tbh, especially if you like a bit of gallows humor.

If only Anno had been a genius scientist instead of an anime director, he could have scienced the pandemic away. Thanks Anno, this is your fault.

The movie will come eventually. We all knew this was a possibility. Its not worth causing a spike in infections over.
