Wow I've only just seen these recently. I honestly kind of feel bad for missing these for so many years. Thank you though.

Re: Netflix English Dub Discussion

Just started watching. My first impressions is that it's not the most amazing dub, but it's still good. The original, IMO still holds up somewhat well for such an old dub; so the difference in quality is still apparent but not as much as I hoped. The cast sounds pretty solid; but I would have prefer...

It'll probably be good thing, considering that if anime industry was a person he'd deserve to end up in the nastiest spot of 2nd or 3rd circle of Dante's hell. Fuck this shit, really. Anime was healthier when focusing on children shows and having occasional space opera for teenage boys. Maybe downs...

Trying to get a job. If I get one I'm actually considering getting this even though I don't speak Japanese, mainly for the "super cool collector's item" novelty. Just something to make those episodes look better or rather the character models. But now that you say it that way I...

I don't like Japanese words being untranslated not because of some form of xenophobia, but because it defeats the entire point of subs to begin with. I know some words can't really be translated properly but you would still get a better understanding than if they just kept it as is. If you h...

Nope. Fuck western companies. They've never offered anything of value. I've stopped buying anything from them since the HD era started because that's when they showed their true incompetence. Funimation is an especially terrible company from pretty much every aspect. Now I shop directly...

Not really excited for this since it's unlikely it will have subs and by the time I get good enough at Japanese it will be long out of print. I'm more excited at the idea of the footage being licensed and subbed with the English dub thrown in. I'm also hoping for a redub by Funi using th...

I'm fairly out of the loop when it comes to Eva stuff, but from what I can gather Jerry Jewell's Kaworu has been fairly well received.

Chris Patton as Kaworu, eww. That would be worse than Greg Ayres performance in the directors cut, I think the original English voice is the best. Kyle Sturdivant is the worst by far. I'm guessing he had no voice work experience since he was pretty much in nothing else but he sounded incredibly...

I should probably expand on why I want to hear JEJ voicing Gendo. And by that I mean him using a performance similar to his Darth Vader performance. I think it would fit Gendo's cold emotionless distance while also giving him a commanding edge making you think "yeah I totally buy that this ...

If Final ends up mirroring EOE or at least being very similar I want that dubstep remix of KST that everyone hates. And no I'm not joking, I actually like it. It has a very dream like quality to it and if used right it could give the film a very surreal atmosphere while also being a great call b...

Kaji's old voice had a sort of whimsical optimism to it that works, he sounded like he had wisdom but with a playful side to him as well. At least in my opinion. I'm sorry, but as a serious attempt to do Shinji's voice, Spike Spencer was utterly inferior to Megumi Ogata. Megumi actually ...

It can still be a self contained series for newcomers while still being a continuation of NGE.

The (possible) hints that it's a sequel probably do count on one already seeing NGE. Which would make sense if it were a sequel given that you usually watch the first entry in something before you watch it's sequel.

No, it doesn't. The visual callbacks are there for thematic resonance and as Easter eggs for viewers who saw the original show, and are demonstrably not evidence of a sequel. The only unexplained element to date is Kaworu's cryptic lines, and they point toward an ENT-specific loop more than...

I've decided to go with the sequel theory. It just makes too much sense. From the characters acting different to the blood stain on the moon there's just too many things that scream "NGE/EOE happened in this universe." Even the things that have in universe explanations still seem t...

JYB could make a decentish Kaworu if he used something similar to his Daisuke Ono performance from Lucky Star. But why settle for "yeah, that's ok...I guess" when you can have "FUCK YEAH!"/Jerry Jewel or Greg Ayers?
