Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

I don't even understand how Rent a Girlfriend, what is likely the trashy anime of the season, is getting so much attention. Granted, its mostly sequels this season, so I guess people are starved for something new, but surely there is some better stuff in the other 10 or so original anime that are co...

Re: Stop motion vs CGI

I do think, though, that now that CGI is basically here to stay, we've lost the art of truly fantastical imagery in fantasy film. While I don't watch that many movies, I think this statement is a little exaggerated. Stop Motion may now be in the realm of it's own, separate from live action, but sur...

Re: Stop motion vs CGI

My dislike of CG is something I state with some frequency, so to say I prefer stop motion is no surprise. That said, while it is charming, I find that it's not necessarily superior to CG most of the time. I was watching Clash of Titans and the Sinbad movies some time ago, and much of the stop motion...

Re: EvaGeeks.org celebrates its tenth anniversary.

I find the level of activity here the most impressive thing. The forum is getting old, sure, but there is no shortage of old and dead or semidead forums out there in the corners of the net. We may not be anywhere near the level of activity we had on say, 2010, before I joined, or 2012 and 2013 when ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Japan Sinks Well, I'm done with this. I doubt I'll see a worse disaster than this this season. It started with an excellent episode, which I really believed announced good things and then proceeded to sink (heh) with such force that it went into the category of so bad it's good in a matter of two e...

I've corrected the Gleipnir bit and the Caesar stuff. I'm not sure how that even went through me.

I assure you all, I'm not a 2000 year old roman. :D

Re: Shin Eva's Indefinite Delay Support Group

Using Torrents is really not a big deal While I agree, it took me an eternity to learn how to use torrents, and only because too many of the old anime I wanted to watch weren't available on legal or illegals streaming sites, forcing me to finally learn how to use it if I wanted to watch those anime...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Oh look. The season is over. Nami yo Kiite Kure - Best anime of the season, mostly thanks to an excellent cast of charismatic and flawed and very goofy people. While this isn’t a complete adaptation, it ends on a good spot, with most of the cast having completed a nice character arc. It also boasts ...

Re: Shin Eva's Indefinite Delay Support Group

I'm not sure I need a support group, but I did have a small chuckle when I saw the thread title, so there's that. I'll be busy for the foreseeable future, so it's not like I have nothing to do till the last Rebuild comes out, but I am still seriously debating what the hell I'm going to do when the m...

Re: Final Fantasy series

Final Fantasy VIII This game is different, that's the best way to put it. At first glance, this seems like a natural progression from FFVII: the graphics are better, the lego models are gone, there are 4 discs now... But the gameplay, my god. I thought I got it mostly when I saw the tuturial, but I...

Re: Did Eva redefine you?

Redefine is a big word, but I guess it's true. Had someone asked me this question when I first watched Eva, more than 8 years ago, I probably would have answered no. I loved it when I watched it, and it still stands as one of my favourite anime ever, especially the movie, but I didn't feel it's infl...

Re: FLCL: Seasons 2 and 3

Did anyone else get a frankly offensive & passive aggressive private message from a member who rarely posts in this forum telling them to " Stop talking about dubs " or was it just me? Because I sure got one for posting an opinion in this topic thread over two years ago. No, I haven't...

Re: CGI in the rebuild films.

Okay, so, are we speaking about Evangelion specifically? Or the entire anime industry as a whole? Like, I remember that Aldnoah.Zero has next to no traditional mecha animation in any of its episodes. They all seem to be CGI. That sucks since mecha shows are few and far between these days. Yeah, I c...

Re: CGI in the rebuild films.

Talk about "apples and oranges". I invite you to compare how much the Evas are actually moving in NGE to how much they're moving in NTE. Well, call me crazy, but I'd be okay with sacrificing the amount of movement and ambitiousness of the action scenes and such if that meant I wouldn't ne...
