Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
But, how could she possibly explain to her parents what happened to her? I don’t they would believe what she had been through. Also, there were those kids to look after. Since Sis had died, who will be able to take care of them? I think Sara chose to stay behind as a way to keep her promise for Sis...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
Exactly all the characters struggles are in vain and it makes the 'happy ending' just come off as emotionally inauthentic, and hollow. It's a lie that 'life is still worth living' and 'everything will turn out alright when It basically takes the positive outlook of the protagonist to the greatest e...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
How was the OP awful? Also, I think it is implied that it’s ten billion years. Right, the message they have at the beginning of every episode. I think it's meant to be at the point when the increase in the Sun's size just kills the Earth with the heat or something. Well, you can't blame...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
I felt the ending was a bit hollow and pointless Spoilers for the ending of Now and Then Here and There: One of my only complaints(the other being the awful OP) about the show is that it doesn't show what happens to the protagonist after he comes back. I didn't need much, just a cou...

Re: Back Arrow -Kazuki Nakashima and Goro Taniguchi
I saw the first episode and was not impressed. There's nothing wrong in particular, but nothing grabs me either. Good backgrounds, ok CG.

Re: On Miyazaki's remarks about otaku
I should clarify I quite like the work Miyazaki does, and generally I take his statements more has an old guy complaining and venting instead of serious criticism, but like Blockio I'm not even sure what the debate here is even supposed to be?

Re: On Miyazaki's remarks about otaku
Miyazaki approaches animation by observing others. In the interview, as Miyazaki sketches, he explains he's able to create art because he spends time watching others. How could one even prove that? Why would he even need too? If you're an animator you're going to look at people for references and t...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
Is Attack on Titan good? I found the first season to be incredibly dull. I also was greatly annoyed by the massive overdramatization of every little thing, although I've heard they tone that down in further seasons.(that I didn't watch) It is, however, plentifully in good animation and the OPs are ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now
Unfortunately I didn't feel much watching The Day I Became a God, some of the comedy was good, sure, and some of the dramatic moments were ok too, and the loli protagonist was cute, but I left the last episode with just a boring "meh" as my final reaction.

The season is over and not much of interest came out. Still... Sport Climbing Girls - Yet another sow about cute girls doing stuff, this time around te rather obscure activity of climbing walls. Not much to say, although the activity does mean you get to see cute girls in unusual angles, if that is ...

Re: Shin Eva Spoilers.
When 3.0 came around I spoiled myself with little concern. I hadn't even seen the rebuild movies at that point. And then so much time passed that when I actually sat and watched the movie I barely remembered any of the spoilers. I was thinking of doing the same thing, but this being the last movie, ...

Why? Why do the evas look like that?
While I agree and have already voiced my dislike of said CG here, it's not like it was any different in the previous rebuilds. Realistically there was no way there wasn't going to be bad CG.

Re: Shin Eva - New Trailer (12-24-20)
Cool trailer, I think I understood absolutely nothing I saw, but neat nonetheless. I'm still hoping for more focus on Rei and less on Mari and the rest of the new characters, but we'll see how it goes. Not much to say about the 2D animation, it looks good, but they didn't show much of it. I'm assumi...

Re: Daicon III Animation Discovered on 8mm Film!
For all we know Anno or any of the people that worked in it could have some copy of Daicon IV film in their attics. But like you said, they can't really do anything with it.

Cool, now could someone find a way to get the Daicon IV opening on quality that doesn't make my eyes bleed?
Not like I'm dissing the III, but there's a reason people prefer the sequel.

Re: Gundam (In All Its Incarnations) Mk. II
Watched Gundam Char's counterattack for the second time. In general, my impression of the movie hasn't changed much, but it certainly feels less rushed now that I know the characters and what's coming. I actually felt something in most of the dramatic moments this time! It still feels jarring to go ...

Re: Christmas a pagan holiday?
Well, some Christians may not be accepting of that because of its roots. Especially some of the puritanical ones. Believing that the Bible is the answer to everything. And they’re certain that they’re right about these things. But why should it bother you? If they ignore the origins of the rituals ...

Re: Christmas a pagan holiday?
Even ignoring stuff like Christmas, nearly all art and architecture used by christians was almost directly lifted from the good old pagan romans. I've always found it hilarious that people praise Jesus and company in almost exactly the same temples used for all the roman gods. Not at all surprising,...

Well, there's more Rei now, so it's good
In all seriousness, I like it, it's kind of goofy, but I don't mind.
