I'm with the 'Hands-down-Asuka-takes-him' crowd, since it seems Shinji really doesn't consider her an 'enemy' per se', and to me it doesn't seem like Asuka waits to for anyone/anything to be an enemy in order to open up a can of whoop-ass.
