Point is- try to pack light. Got a huge DVD/game/book collection? That crap isn't coming with you.

Speak for yourself, my ridiculous movie collection is being relocated to my new apartment even if I have to use the pantry to fit some of it.

Re: Official "Hello/Goodbye" Thread!

I decided to visit this place again on a nostalgic whim, so I figured I'd post in here. I'm still alive (though Harvey might have something to say about that) and starting real life on September 25. Sorry to hear about NemZ, he was a good guy. May he rest in peace. I don't intend to stick around for...

Apparently I'm making significant progress with regards to my therapy. Or so I've been told.

Re: Last Movie You Watched

I remember seeing Red Riding like...five year ago I think. Had to watch it with the subtitles on because the accents were so thick. It does sort of feel like a British version of True Detective (in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the showrunners were influenced by it) but I never really felt like th...

Re: FML general thread [8]

While I got a new job, the training has been horrible. I'm supposed to learn how to operate this database for insurance payments over the phone instead of having someone come in and physically teach me and my supervisor (the only other person physically present) has no idea how to do anything in the...

Re: FML general thread [8]

Looking for summer jobs is such a drag, especially when most of the good part time positions require some kind of prior work experience.

Re: Fallout

I'm going to try and finish Fallout 4 in the next week or so. I've probably got another twenty hours before I run out of meaningful content and I'm starting the final act of storymode right now. After that, I might reinstall New Vegas with some graphics mods.

Re: Everything is Rockin'! [RML Thread 4]

I've got my bachelor's degree, now I've got one more year to go to get my Master's and then I shall school no more. Also cashed in a saving's bond I'd been keeping today at the bank. It was worth over $1,200 and more than doubled the amount of money in my checking account. I actually don't need a jo...

Re: Everything is Rockin'! [RML Thread 4]

Only got about two hours of sleep last night between insomnia and the rain and had to get up with the knowledge that I had a test today that I simply wasn't prepared for. This morning I gets news that my class has been canceled due to the same heavy rains. Fuck yes.... This is the second time in my ...

Re: FML general thread [8]

I hate it when companies put up intern opportunities on university recruiting sites and keep them up until a certain date, but ask you to apply to both the posting on the university website and on the company website, only the equivalent posting on the company website has been taken down despite the...

Re: Fullmetal Alchemist Gets Live Action Movie

Live-Action anime adaptations have a distressing trend of being quite bad, not to mention being poor adaptations of the source material. So I'm a bit worried this is going to continue the trend especially since FMA is explicitly set in a world analogous to early 20th century Europe. Maybe I'll be su...

Finally started seeing a therapist yesterday. It felt like a good first step and I'm glad I finally decided to be proactive about this instead of being stuck in neutral like I've been the past few months. Should have started sooner, but the good news is that I'm starting now.

I was there for the end of the so called "Golden Age of Evageeks" and it was a great time to be on the forum. The reason I'm still around is mainly habit and the unrealistic hope that we'll get there again some day. Makes me somewhat nostalgic.

Re: What are you watching right now? (tv series + see OP!)

Battlestar Galactica . I saw the pilot and one or two episodes of the first season way back in like 2006 or 2007. But I wasn't really mature enough to enjoy all the nuances of the writing. Of course, from what I've seen the first 2.5 seasons are great before things start going off the rails in the ...

Re: What kind of movies do you like most?

I've always been a fan of historical drama (Jidaigeki, Westerns, costume dramas, etc.), film noir, and fantasy and science fiction. A good psychological drama or suspense film is always appreciated as well. My tastes are eclectic and I'd have a hard time choosing just one genre or kind of film if I ...

Re: Evageeks is a story about repetition

Forums have slowed down a lot largely due to real life reasons. We also had a couple of nasty flame wars that polarized the user-base along political grounds that lead to a good deal of discontent which lead to people deliberately antagonizing each other which led to a large number of bans. Most of ...

Re: The Disgusting Irresponsibility of Car Chase Scenes

I think everyone has certain tropesthey just can't stand. Car chases for one person may be constant witty banter for someone else. Most car chase scenes are rather dull personally; but when done well, they're quite enthraling. If one party is an anti-hero or otherwise flawed protagonist it also make...

Re: Celebrity RIP Thread

I'm not disagreeing that it is a monumental event that alters the scope of the current election cycle, I'm talking about people taking perverse pleasure in the fact that Scalia died whilst joking that they want to desecrate his grave or toasting his death at dinner. That sort of reaction to someone'...
