I wouldn't take the CG line too seriously. When this film was announced in December they also said they still hadn't decided on how to do the effects. Higuchi's upcoming Attack on Titan film done at Toho is mainly relying on practical effects and I'll assume this will too. Here's...

Khara is still regularly tweeting that they are recruiting animators for new projects. Soooo unless they need help finishing the final Animator Expo shorts - which should all be very far along if not completed - or are doing extensive animation work for another company, they may be doing some work ...

Anno and Higuchi teaming up to do a monster film was something I already hoped to see one day and now it's happening and it's Godzilla. It's almost a bit unreal. I think this blog will be the best English source for info. Translations of Anno and Higuchi's statements from there: The ...

Honda's nickname was supposedly coined by Takahiro Kishida when they worked on Bubblegum Crisis so it's been around since then (1991). The site credits him with planning but Maeda called Honda co-director of the short on twitter: https://twitter.com/maedamahiro/status/541968421575872...

I was guessing purely on the character design >_> Anyway we'll see about that. I understood that but was still a bit baffled but after looking at Gankutsuou again I kind of see what you mean. I'm more reminded of the characters in Osamu Kaobayashi's Someday's Dreamers. http://i.imgu...

Since we got nothing to do for a week let's play the guessing game http://i.imgur.com/FQS5Plk.jpg No. Not even close. I don't know who's responsible for the character design but the BG art must be Yuuji Kaneko (Kill La Kill and LWA). Kaneko is very distinct artist so this could ...

Director credit shared by Maeda and Higuchi. Co-produced with P Productions. The title comes from a track from the 3.0 soundtrack. Sagisu's new record uses images from the storyboard as cover. See http://neweva.blog103.fc2.com/blog-entry-2624.html So it's a promotional film for Sagisu's ...

Dezaki only got three awards? I guess he never amounted to much.:chinscratch: I feel like being pedantic about some of the bio blurbs so here goes Tsurumaki Suzuki could have been the connection between Giants and Gainax for him but his teacher at Giants was Naohito Takahashi. Incidentally he joined...

I understand 1 koma to mean animation on ones. So more or less the opposite of it's literal meaning of one frame. Ikuhara did 8 episodes of SM's first season. I don't dare to try to help with anything else. Sorry.

Thanks for your work Xard.

it's really hard to find Japanese films on, uhh, internet if no one bothered to sub them. . I know. Which is why the fourth ATG film by Jissoji is nowhere to be seen while Poem can still be found complete with nonsense subs. But if you could find Blue Christmas you should probably be able to fi...

I really like Mandala mostly because it's such a gorgeous looking film. I assume you noticed the use of a certain type of sound to indicate something "disturbing"? That was also cool. There are no real subs for Poem as far as I know but some of Jissoji's other films like his Rampo ...

Neogaf is down for maintenance so I can't even read the post but Hosoda had nothing to do with Penguindrum ep 9. Takeuchi is mentioned in the blogpost you linked. In Nadja's first episode you're probably just seeing similarities between Igarashi and Hosoda which isn't strange at all considering the...

This got so long I bolded the bits worth reading I guess Bagheera and Xard has said everything they wanted about showing vs telling but I'll do my best to drag it up again. First what does showing and not telling even mean when outside of literature? I was looking for examples so the first thin...
