Re: Not quite what it says. B/ - Bl

It's not about the translation, it's how "Sons of God" is interpreted. There are three: 1. Angels 2. Sons of Seth 3. Sons of nobles And as I said, yours is the most discredited, and more importantly for this topic, the least visible. Your original point is that the Evas = Nephilim...

It may be a "poor indicator", but it's the only one we have. The hints that America's power has declined is equally fleeting, yet also considered canon . Further, there is no reason to believe these laws in Eva's society would be repealed, and there is nothing in it to suggest...

Re: Rather pointless this is. Bl

"Wrong"? It's more like you're splitting hairs here. Yes, we don't know how laws may have evolved in a post 2nd impact Japan, that's why speculating on it is pointless, and we take the laws as we know them that currently exist in Japan to be the default. In particular, law...

Re: Not quite what it says. B/ - Bl

Yes he did, if the Book of Jubilees is to be believed: They weren't the only reason, but they were among them. Rulers of the period would many times refer to themselves as sons of God, for example, the Egyptian king was called "son of Re." "Sons of Elohim", as you put it, ha...

Yes, I factually do. Go look up the First Ancestral Race, the creators of the Angels in Evangelion. Even if the alien race did not make direct contact with humans, humans found ruins of their civilization and technology of theirs that was far more advanced (hence the Apocryphal Dead Sea Scrolls...

If Mari dies (and as things stand I don't really expect her to do so) it'll be at the very end of the series. In the same way that Rei in NGE/EoE manifested the things in which Anno found escape, and it's her being destroyed that triggers the end of the story - Mari is above all...

Only in the case they read the Stoics, something I doubt they did. Or developed Stoic thought and philosophy on their own, independently without reading the ancient writings of the movement we call Stoicism, which is entirely possible. Thoughts spring up independently around the world, with or with...

Re: Not quite what it says. B/

The grammar of the inscriptions show that asherah is to be treated as a common noun, not a proper name. It refers to a cult symbol. Whether it refers to Asherah is ambiguous, for during the second temple period, the practice was to address YHWH and a personified cult object together (To Yah and...

Keeping in mind that I make no distinction between philosophy and religion (to me, they are synonymous words to be used interchangeably, along with the word tradition), there are some things that would cause me to say Evangelion most closely resembles Gnosticism (or if you throw a fit ab...

Re: Pretty Straight Forward B/ - Bl

You're being too literal. But hell, it does count as statutory rape, most prefectures in Japan have an ordnance that says it's illegal to have sex with someone under 18 if they're more than two years younger than yourself. You are completely wrong here. We don't know what the laws o...

Re: Not quite what it says. B/

No, what negates it is the actual translation and context: The Nephilim, in the Torah, are not decedents of Angels, rather, they are decedents of Seth, and daughters of Cain, their "fallen" status referring to their own rebellion against God. Could the Eva staff have gone with an incorrec...

The creators of the Angels never visited our planet. There is no way they are at all analogous to any of the deities humanity has ever imagined. That's just not true and you have no basis for saying that. Even if the creator of the angels hadn't visited earth, their creator could be specula...

Take your anti-gay/homophobic ass back to the closet. I'm seriously sick and tired of the anti-gay sentiments on EvaGeeks.

What do ambiguously extraterrestrial giants who wandered the Earth in Biblical times have to do with enslaved "artificial human" giants generated from aliens via cloning in the 21st century? Possibly everything, which was my point if you even read anything I wrote. The 'human giants&#...

If we understand that the gods are in fact extraterrestrials who were worshipped by humans far inferior to them, then YHWH is an alien, as are the other gods. Also, that the Evas are clones of a space alien doesn't rebuke my hypothesis that they are Nephilim. The big ass space aliens may have be...

Evas as Nephilim

I have a hypothesis regarding the nature of the Evas. As you may be aware, the Evas are actually biological beings (and sons of god/YHWH). I think that the Evas are actually the Nephilim or giants spoken of in the Book of Genesis (of the Hebrew Bible) and elsewhere in apocryphal lite...

I would much rather that they have two full length movies that come out a few years apart. I don't mind the wait, and it will be worth it to have a story that's more substantive. This is DEFINATELY NOT happening. Q and Final were never planned to be full length features independently, they ...

I didn't assert there was. There isn't any confirmation that 4.0 will continue to be seperate from 3.0 either. It's fan speculation on my part, my point to make was that it's smarter to make Q a full length feature, as in 90 minutes or longer, than having 4.0 remain a seperate 40 or ...

Yeah, 3.0 & 4.0 were reported to be 45 minutes or so each. I'm now thinking that if FINAL was scrapped, 3.0 will simply merge with the content of what was going to be 4.0 and be 90 minutes or longer as a result, thus making 3.0 a full length feature. Which I think is a much wiser decision ra...

Oh wait, wasn't Evangelion 3.0 and 4.0 suppose to be half the length of the previous theatrical releases and shown together? If so, maybe it won't be such a long wait for Rebuild to finish its run because there may not be any wait at all between Quickening and 4.0 =D yay!
