Another great old anime: Zeta Gundam, I heard the original US release had dub-titles only and the original Japanese opening/endings weren't included due to licensing. They fixed those problems in the 5 "chapter" volumes but what I'm wondering, do the 2 brick sets contain the crappy...

Watching SDF on ep 5 now, but the "romance" aspect is so cheesy. Also, I think Do you remember love? is a compilation movie of the original focussing on Hikaru and Lynn from ep 2-27.

They won't just get back to the main plot, its just these cheesey romantic crap scenes. :headdesk:

Yes, I think Kenshin Tsuiokuhen had these qualities. Just don'tr know an appropriate thread for that specific one.

Whatever the case, this "schoolgirl genre" must not be too important if no one knows the name of it. Could you tell us what it's called ornette? @topic I hate any anime that are pretencious or give the illusion of depth (excluding Teknoraizu it really did have meaning). Take Ra...

I My Me! Strawberry Eggs - 8 Let's make it simple and just say that every school girl anime after Azumanga Daioh is a ripoff of it. Anyway, I think that most shonen anime are horrible. They have repetitive, tired plots and yes, no depth. Now if anything deserves to be called a muddy puddle, it&...

The only thing I am not sure of is how much the "under the surface" meanings have to be present in an anime to be considered an entire layer of it's meaning. With Eva it's easy to tell that it is a story about depression for example, because that meaning is present throughout Eva i...

It's the same as with RahXephon, Lucky star copied everything about Azumanga except added a character who liked anime to deter a lawsuit, Just as Rah copied every surface detail in Eva and said "no ours has music".

I prefer media with linear plotlines. So you could see why I prefer anime to anything else. Maybe its just me, but i like to watch things with plots that end. You won't find that in any US TV.

Then why do you continually post on a forum dedicated to Anime?! If anime is so unwatchable give imdb a try.

Elfen Lied. It redefined the word "unwatchable". it was just a giant mess of sickening, senseles graphic violence and perversion. That's definitely not the reason I found it to be so unwatchable. TBH those things were what KEPT me watching, even though the experience was roughly...

@ topic I think Yojimbo once explained depth like this 1. Surface/Superficial 2. Under the surface 3. Medium depth 4. Deep 5. Very deep We can say everything that's explicitly stated or shown falls into category 1, while everything obvious though not explicitly stated or shown falls into categor...

Well I had a thread for this but, I liked Rurouni Kenshin Tsuiokuhen a lot. It was deeper than the TV series by far.

I found a great review here http://www.thespectrum.net/anime/kenshin-ova/index.php

Ghost in the shell is fairly deep. It has at least 2 layers below the surface:

1. Questioning of what it means to be human
2. Allegory of the internet
