I figured the control veins were just something for the pilots to move for our sakes. Might not have looked as good if they were just sitting there, not moving.

A while ago a friend was trying to convince me that the whole series could be re-set in Australia. Something to do with it being the oldest continent, or something.

People seem to be attracted to the idea of setting the series in their home.

I figured the reason you only see Asuka and Shinji in that spot, as opposed to seeing them plus other induviduals, was because they were the only people that close to Third Impact to survive the initial explosion and get complemented.

Seemed like a reasonably simple explanation.

Singapore's language is English..... Malay appears to be the national, so English is a predominate alternate? I'm intrigued, I've always assumed that there weren't any predominate English speaking areas in Asia. It's possible that Chuang Yi do the English translations mostly for...

Chuang Yi are a Singapore-based manga importer/distributor, who also do their own translating. Madman Entertainment, the company that holds the exclusive licence to distribute NGE in Australia (along with a spate of other titles) slightly repackage Chuang Yi's versions and sell them here...

That Adam and Lilith are female is not so much logical as explicit - their entire narrative function is maternal. I'm just trying to figure out why the obvious is not being apparent. I've explained why I think they are genderless. They can spawn offspring without the participation of others...

This discussion is going on in 2 threads now... I'm gonna quote what I said over there, if that's OK: The part of this that doesn't work for me, is if they are supposed to be one given gender, why aren't they portrayed like that physically? They both have male bodies. I don't thi...

I'm interested to know what the psychological resistance to the concept that they might be female is based upon, let alone the assertion that they have male bodies. The lack of swollen mammae, perhaps? But that is something not shown outside of lactation by other mammalian species. -Straight up...

Kaworu refers to Adam as the mother figure of the Angels. Lilith quite clearly has LCL coming out of her midsection, which does not occur with males. Lilith is also the mother figure for humanity, and LCL bears a very strong resemblance to the primordial soup of life. It's quite clear that huma...

Re: Another viewpoint...

I believe the S² engine to simply be a 'heavenly' destructive device, directing huge amounts of energy using a torus reactor/tokamak reactor (or similar setup) to generate power (it would be possible to make one into a self-sustaining coil shape, no doubt). But, instead of ...

Re: Asuka's "Death" in EoE

Actually, no. EoE was what was intended all along, and the success of the show meant that they actually had got the budget to make the real ending. We even have bits of EoE in episode 25 (and more in in storyboard form). See http://www.stevegilham.com/nge/manyworlds.html#originaleotv God, t...

 I'd be in favour of a "Groundhog Day" style every day they wake up, and Shinji strangles Asuka again. If it was Asuka's Groundhog Day, that'd might explain her reaction. Everyday she wakes up to Shinji strangling her. After dying a few dozen times she found out stroking ...

I dunno. The committie didn't seem to understand what Shinji realised about complementation; that whole "Becoming one being is then same as not existing at all" thing. Well seeing as how they were instrumentalified they might figure it out to. I suppose so. Who would've been crouc...
