Re: Official EvaGeeks Watch-Along Party for Shin Eva!

“Thrice Upon A Time” is a masterpiece and definitely the most uplifting finale for Evangelion. I love Hideaki Anno’s storytelling and genius.

Re: Did Evangelion really run out of budget?

Yes, they ran out of money because the toy revenue not doing that well. So Anno basically went back to the basics in the final two episodes. And there are many scenes that go on for a long time with nothing happening, because of a lack of money. And episodes 21-24 were fantastic episodes, even with ...

Re: How did you first get into Evangelion?

An online buddy named Eva Yojimbo recommended the anime to me and I heard about all of the praise and critical acclaim that it got. So I bought the Platinum edition and I was immediately blown away by it’s brilliance. I think NGE is arguably the greatest work of art ever made and it got me into art ...

This is fantastic news! Netflix finally did the impossible and bought the license to stream Evangelion to a worldwide audience. I’m so happy about this. Yay!

@ OoOoOoO I was one of those people. The manga has to be the greatest of all time. I saw the Anime first, then would either purchase the giant novels or read them at the local Half-Price Books. I was blown away by the manga! The drawings of the city and landscapes are epic. Also, the movie complete...

Rashomon has always been my second or third favourite Kurosawa film. Meh, whatever. It's not like that matters The acting in "Rashomon" is pretty dreadful at times. It's a good film, but I guess the acting is too over the top for me. You haven't seen ham, until you've seen...

6.0/10[/b][spoiler]The most disappointing film of the year I've seen thus far. The Hurt Locker is a film about a EOD or Explosive Ordinance Disposal unit in Iraq. When their first tech dies, a wild, hotshot Staff Sergeant named William James joins the upright Sergeant Sanborn and their neurotic ...

I'm more aware of how flawed, uneven and incredibly self-indulgent it is

Wrong on all three accounts. :)

Jackie Brown - I don't get why all the nonconformist Tarantino fans say it's his best work Neither do I. It's a damn good film, but nothing outstanding, and definitely not a masterpiece. It's too long winded, and way too many long takes of Pam Grier...........walking. She's gorg...

And you mentioned Fredo's death. For me, the more emotionally powerful part was were Connie begs Micheal to forgive him, then Micheal proceeds to hug him, but give the goon a signal. It was a sort of crescendo that toppled off. I was convinced for a moment, that Micheal would forgive, then that...

Where I live, openly liking anime lowers your chances of having sex with attractive people.

You must live in one ignorant place. Where I come from, attractive people do like anime.

Re: Did Rebuild ruin the original series for you? [NO SPOILE

After watching the camrip of Rebuild 2, I decided to go back to the series to see how the original battle against Sahaquiel compared. I was shocked. I had seen nothing but Rebuild and the manga for the longest time, and as a result, the series looked ridiculously primative. What I had once consider...

Evangelion’s the same way, but I think it’s easier for someone who already watches anime to get into Evangelion because of its initial reliance on established tropes. I think students of cinema are able to get into "Evangelion" a lot easier. Sure, most anime fans have seen it, and many of...

Perhaps quite literally a representation of a big part of the Lilim population eating popcorn while watching events unfold. Perhaps Anno sees many people sitting around in Life while waiting for something to happen, or saw himself that way. Maybe even a comment on the film's literal audience I&...

No part of "getting out more" involves meeting people who would watch Evangelion of their own volition. Yes it does. I've talked to plenty of people who weren't educated on anime, but loved "Evangelion." I've also met people who got into anime because of "Evange...

I guess my point is this: I do not know anyone who of their own volition watched and enjoyed Evangelion without already being a fan of anime. Princess Mononoke, yes. Evangelion, no. This just means you need to get out more. ;) Until "Evangelion", I stopped watching anime. And to be ho...

I recently got done with "Fooly Cooly." What a mind blowing experience that was.
