To paraphrase a line from V for Vendetta: "Artists use lies to tell the truth, the audience uses that lie to cover up their own truths." Wow, this line seems really fitting here. Reading about Toji, I really wonder what's going on: does he have some mental disorder that's making i...

It's the same here, but it doubles as a word for "drunk". It's still not terribly offensive in that usage.

What The Bastard King posted is a quote from Kojima's podcast. An article featuring the quote is available on Kotaku, if anyone wants thicker sauce.

Not to mention learning the phonetic Japanese alphabet and some of the more useful kanji. It's a good thing you have a year -- you have a lot to do! I studied Japanese for five years in high school, so it's more brushing up my knowledge than trying to learn completely new things, which is v...

- Studio's don't hire him. He makes the films entirely himself. HE CANNOT BE STOPPED. He still has to get the rights to do any game adaptations though, and he could be stopped on that front, as mentioned in my last post. Then he'd have to make more original movies... which are far more ...

Hopefully he won't be making too many more adaptations. I doubt he'll be doing any more of any decent games, to say the least. Hideo Kojima has said that he won't let Boll anywhere near a Metal Gear Solid movie, and I'd imagine/hope that most developers feel the same way now. I doubt...

Kaede can be a unisex name, but I've heard it more as a girl's name and I think it's more commonly feminine. But that's not what was there anyway, is it? I haven't heard of Kaeda as a first name before but then my knowledge of Japanese is relatively small. In any case, this findi...

Yeah, I'm serious. I have an itinerary ready to go and I'm keeping an eye out for flight sales. I'll be going in March next year so I have plenty of time... too much time! haha

I've found a great website for accommodation, but I'm certainly not going to knock back any other help.

Just once. When I got the Platinum set, a friend and I watched the whole series, then Death, then EoE in the span of about two weeks. We watched five or six episodes at a time.

Back in the VHS days, I watched the whole series - without EoE - over a longer period of time (maybe a month or so).

Planning a trip to Japan

I'm planning a trip to Japan for around March 2009. I've been to Japan once before on student exchange, so I have some idea of places I'd like to go again and places I didn't get to go last time, but I think it would be good to get some "outside" thoughts. Does anyone (...
