Re: Fanfic Story Ideas, Mk. II

"Shinjiko" isn't a true gender swap, incidentally.<snip> That's interesting, I hadn't realized that -ko could be substituted for -ji and vice-versa to get the female and male versions of a particular name. "Shinjiko" was something that I'd remembered from the old days of the for...

Re: Fanfic Story Ideas, Mk. II

I don't name-change characters when genderbending them. In fact, for one of my stories I even came up with an excuse for why the character in question has a gender-inappropriate name. Come to think of it, I like this approach. Do carry on, I'm curious to see what you'll create, writer's block be da...

Re: Tengen Toppa WARK-angelion

Edited this post with a little interquel - Pen-Pen said, "Wark! I've had awfully little to do lately. You'd think that a fic called Tengen Toppa WARK-angelion would feature more Penguin in it and less of a gazillion different people getting together!" Haruka Tenoh said, "You're speaki...

Re: Post Third Impact Topography

But since most of the mountains in Japan sit along the center of the country and most of Japan's cities sit on the coasts, a giant tsunami would cause havoc and destruction for a large number of people. Maybe not so much in terms of total land area, but in terms of populated area, yes.

...had a silly mental image today when my mind remembered Shinji and WH40k from years past: Lulz, and I was just thinking about that crazy fic! Man, that was quite an experience. By the way, you should change Shinji to Shinjiko for this fic  It wouldn't be an instant characterization ch...

@Derantor: That's some fascinating German analysis, and the alternatives you've provided for the translation bungles make sense. Great work!

Re: Tengen Toppa WARK-angelion

High up in the air, Inumuta turned his "uniform" into what looked like a state-of-the-art F-35 stealth fighter but all the stealth or high technology in the world wouldn't work against the Eva-02 in its F-14 form. He struggled to calculate his Itano-circus style missile attacks against the...

Re: Thrice Upon A Humanity: The Deep Lore of NTE [WIP]

Tossing in my two cents here - Since see see what looks like another GUFO plumb in the middle in the Gates of Guf hovering over the epicenter of 2I in Antarctica during 2.0, I wonder if the GUFO can also act as some kind of "plug" or "seal" to hold the Gates of Guf open after an ...

Re: Character Heights

Fixed now. That's not the original character heights discussion, which I presume is somewhere in the ANF archive, but rather one that Shin-Seiki made using the Gunbuster character heights as a comparison, with additional inputs from Reichu and the others. To add one character who's not on that chart...

I think the character heights on the wiki were based on this post, or some variation of the heights here, hence the discrepancy -

Re: How can I make fresh new start?

I understand that there are people here who were annoyed with me and now wants nothing to do with me. I've noticed you making statements to that effect. It also appears you have a tendency to jump to conclusions about what people mean, like summarizing Derantor's advice as "So basically, be mo...

Re: How can I make fresh new start?

What Derantor said. I'm not the best person to offer advice since I wasn't around when you got banned, but from Blockio's reaction it appears that he has lingering bad feelings from the past and your behavior gave him the impression you hadn't changed. Although this may be hard for you to accept, us...

Re: Adams, Children, and the Nature of the Cycle

They're cut from the movie for a reason. But what reason? These cut scenes are actually quite revealing, and it'd be interesting to know what Anno and company had in mind when they cut them. Is it that these scenes disrupted their narrative flow, or perhaps they didn't want some of the key informat...

Re: Nemesis Ra Kozo: Fuyutsuki's Possible Role in Shin

Gendo's visor is different from Keel's in one key respect - Keel's visor goes over his ears as well so perhaps he can't hear without it either, while Gendo's ears are plainly exposed. Perhaps it's more of "hear no evil, see no evil (or betrayal)" for Keel in NGE and "see no evil (or b...

Re: Nemesis Ra Kozo: Fuyutsuki's Possible Role in Shin

I'm beginning to wonder if there's something of a Star Trek: The Next Generation treatment going on - sort of the way Next Gen split individual characters from the original Star Trek into two and reassigned some of their traits to one another. I suspect that there's a Next Generation treatment going...

Re: Cruel Angel's Thesis - lyrics in instrumental section solved?

I believe the source was the January 1996 issue of Newtype, hence 96/01 and not 98/01. I've heard it reported that the speculation about the lyrics being in the secret ancient language of the Dead Sea Scrolls came from the same issue of Newtype, but since I don't have the scans I have no way of inde...
