Re: Spring cleaning

As usual, at the end of the month, dormant accounts - ones with no posts, and a last active date (last time visited while logged in) before the start of last year (i.e. 1-Jan-23 this year) will get purged.

Re: Share Your EVA Fan Art Here

Recently there's been a spate of "post your angels" threads on AI art 1D54F /twitter , that are of course full of beautiful people with bird's wings sprouting from their shoulder blades. So have I amused myself on Copilot Designer aka Bing image creator - https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/f...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

A small problem of the film is that everyone is smoking, Meaning they didn't airbrush out that part of how the world used to be. I am reminded at this point of a German mystery/thriller from c1950 I saw at the local arthouse some time in the past couple of decades - in one "everyone talking ar...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Sengoku Collection: ... A lot of people probably dropped this back in the day because it's frontloaded with some of the weakest episodes, but overall, it's a gleeful exercise in IP disrespect, and one of the very few fun things to come out of modern cancerous Konami. The only contemporary mention o...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Well I finished Wonder Egg Priority and Vivy in the end. The former was a mess - so many things handwaved into the plot in the last few episodes to keep things happening, and then dropped or left dangling. Verdict - to travel hopefully is far better than to end in a soggy thud. The latter kept itsel...

Re: Is the "Curse of Eva" concept present in the original anime series?

In the sense of not growing up, no. One can make all sorts of reasons outside the narrative why it was added in the rebuilds.

But there was a more abstract sense in which once inside the secret, you could never escape the burden of knowing.

Re: Last Movie You Watched

I may well catch Poor Things , depending what times the showings are. Well, I did go to see it, and there was enough of the intriguing steampunk Bride of Frankenstein that the lower certified trailer had hinted at to have almost countered being buried under way too much tedious "furious jumpin...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

What's happening with the world? I did 3 movies in as many days. First, The Boy and the Heron which was showing at the local arthouse cinema; and then, because I did the free month of Prime for Christmas shopping, did a bit there before I cancel. Next, Matrix Resurrections , having watched the first...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Caught The Boy and the Heron yesterday. It was OK (enough that I didn't feel annoyed about having to take my least favourite route home for night riding because of flooding on the quieter ones), but I feel that The Wind Rises would have stood as a better finisher, rather than doing one more encore. ...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

Starting a couple of backlog items, and finding that anime producers have wised up to the 3-episode rule as both have cliffhanger/to be continued endings on episode 3. Those titles being Wonder Egg Priority , which hasn't really grabbed me at all, and Vivy : Fluorite's Eye Song which has the disadva...

Re: Is Evangelion a Shinji's dream?

When I first watch episode 26, I felt that I was about to be cheated by a "but it was all a dream, even if it did contain realizations about life" type of ending. That turned out not the case; but some while later I encountered a take that NGE was best read with the NERV/Eva/Angel bits as ...

Re: Last Movie You Watched

Suzume Did you get Evangelion, more specifically 2.22 vibes from this film like I did? Having skipped the middle parts of the Rebuilds, I'm obviously not in a position to make that specific comparison; but, no, I didn't characterise it to myself as being Suzume striving to avert an Evangelion-style...

In time for her birthday https://thumbs4.imagebam.com/ae/10/94/MEQA2BB_t.png Not such a good picture as for Asuka, since the base model doesn't know her, and the one LoRA I could find seems to have been trained on about 3 images, so I couldn't play around with styles that much. (detail, 1girl, s...

Re: A different quoting system?

The forum is currently running on an antique version of the forum code, that uses so much out-of-support infrastructure that we are stuck in a place where any updates actually being a migration to a whole new forum. We've done that a couple of times already in the almost 20 years the site has been r...
