Re: Spring Cleaning 2020

The 318 affected unused accounts have been purged, which is, to put it in perspective, equal to about a month's worth of spam sign-ups these days.

Re: FML general thread [8]

We are now officially amongst "those elderly neighbours you need to keep an eye on" -- our next-door neighbours are being very solicitous, and helpful, now that there's a soft lock-down going for those deemed vulnerable, for which I'm very grateful, but it's rather more sobering than getti...

Like is anyone else finding this Coronavirus really jarring? Having had little reason to leave the house this year (well, at least since I got a squat rack for my home gym back in January), and having been doing all the grocery shopping online for 20-odd years now, the only thing I've really notice...

Re: What anime are you watching right now? Summer 2016 to now

As we come to the end of the season, a season where Corona-chan has proven herself more potent than a Level 5 Esper, I've been driven to the backlog once again, and watched the first cour of Overlord , a harmless diversion which proved to be quite amusing, with all the "Oh, shit!!" moments...

In sum, things are hosed until Ornette gets time to pick up the pieces. We've been using an old -- and significantly customised -- version of the wiki software, which can't cope with the new database version; and the new database version doesn't allow downgrading the data back to a version the wiki ...

This isn't Twitter; you can and should use full URLs. And it's not as if the full URL was much longer anyway, like it would have been for a Google Doc.

Sessions expiring while composing a post has always been a thing, though it's possible some of the measures we've taken in response may have had some inadvertent effects on sessions. I've had to answer the "captcha" as part of logging in a couple of times following the recent changes.

This season's ecchi, Ishuzoku Reviewers, seems to be too hot to handle. Not only have Funi dropped it from their simulcast/simuldub, but even the censored version is being dropped from channels in Japan.

Re: Netflix: Ghost in the Shell - Sac 2045...

Budget makes a difference. A movie gets more cash per minute than a series, and an OP that gets used every episode will get proportionately more attention too -- just as with 2D animation, where a polished OP can be followed by increasing QUALITY in later episodes.

Re: Evangelion ANIMA (general)

So I picked up and read the first volume. It was surprisingly OK so far, in the style of "Eva continuation-fic that I might have written, following an Asuka-centric, early SysOp crash, fix-fic", however off the rails it might get later.

From what I read, "Code000" wanted to axe the manga at chapter 32, but Yabuki managed to negotiate a few extra chapters to get some kind of conclusion. Compared with the usual axing, this was better than we might have had.

Re: Darling in the Franxx (Studio Trigger)

And it's done. Incredibly rushed at the end (some plot threads getting resolved in a panel or so), as one might have expected, given where we were when the "3 chapters left" dropped. On balance, slightly better at the conclusion than the anime, if only because it simply omitted most of the...
